A few words
from Barchester
Hello and Welcome! Welcome to my second write up in the Chalfont Chatter
and as a man of my word – I am still here and will
continue to support the home until a new manager is
appointed, inducted and supported.
I am pleased to say that following recent inspections
from the CQC and the Local Authority monitoring teams
that standards are improving. We are aiming for
excellence in the oncoming months.
Chalfont Lodge is a lovely home and I have witnessed
many positive aspects in relation to high quality care – I
believe the home is safe, staff are trained and it is clear
residents are empowered. Understanding our resident’s
personal needs is the key factor of which I have seen
many clear examples here. However please if there is any
support or changes we can make to your care plan or
your loved ones care plan – please do let us know. Enjoy
the good weather.

International Nurses’ Day
We paid special tribute to all of our nurses on
International Nurses' Day to thank them for their
dedication to the residents and patients they care for
in our homes and hospitals.
CEO, Pete Calveley, made a special visit to
Longueville Court Care Home in Peterborough on
Friday 11th May, where he personally awarded each
of the nurses with a branded water bottle as a token
of appreciation for their contribution at the home,
and to encourage nurses to stay hydrated.
The World Cup - love it or loathe it, has taught us some
valuable lessons. Many of the countries expected to
succeed, fell victim to supposedly, weaker teams? Clearly,
the ‘odds’ of an underdog winning a football match, are
higher than we were led to believe.
The lesson here, is to consider ALL possible outcomes,
rather than rely on an expected result. We live in a World
of uncertainty, where luck can and does, play a much
higher role than we would like to think.
Similarly, when it comes to investing your money, it’s
prudent to consider a range of scenarios because, placing
too much confidence in a small number of investments,
could surprise you in the short, medium or long term!

Staff and residents at Red Oaks celebrated after
their recent CQC inspection rating, where they
scored an overall ‘Outstanding’ after being reviewed
for a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led
service.
The CQC inspected the home on 16th and 18th
January (the report was released on 6th April) and
rated the home as ‘Outstanding' in two key
assessment areas (‘Caring’ & ‘Responsive’) and
‘Good’ in three (‘Safe’, ‘Effective’ & ‘Well-led’).
Well done to everyone who made this possible!
