From The Judging Chairman by Wayne Loron

O ur first judging related event of the year will be a judging school held on Saturday,

March 13, 2010 at Dean Sprecher’s “Corvette Specialties” in Wilsonville, OR. We will be “self-teaching” ourselves the finer points of the 1994-96 Corvettes, utilizing at least two Chapter member’s Corvettes. If you would like to learn more about judging in a year group where you can be almost assured of being selected to judge at future meets, please plan to attend this event. Our Regional Meet in Bend this August will be the

!get We will start at 8 am and go until mid-afternoon. There is no registration form for this school, we just need a head count for lunch, so contact Mike Benner if you plan to be there. Lunch will be provided by the Chapter, and there is no registration fee. Your Chapter is continuing to “pick up the tab” for these judging schools as well as the mini-meets. On April 10, 2010 we will hold another mini-meet/judging school at Stewart Lowe’s shop in Burien,

WA. We plan to judge two 1966 Corvettes utilizing “judges in training” backed up by instructors in each of the five judging areas. Again, please let Mike Benner know if you plan to attend. Our second mini-meet this year will be on May 1, 2010 at Mike and Tammy’s in Yakima, WA. We plan to judge two 1961 Corvettes using newer judges

backed-up by some “black hats”. Please contact Mike Benner if you will be there so he knows how much lunch to provide. June 20, 2010 is Father’s Day, so plan to attend the picnic at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, WA. This event has been going on for 35 years, and while it is not a judging event, there sure is a lot of “unofficial” judging as well as some tire-kicking

!going on Our Chapter Judging Meet will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Larry Johnson’s Corvette and High Performance in Tumwater, WA. Larry and Karen are great hosts, so plan now to attend this event. The registration form will be in the next Driveline, and is in this issue of The Front Bumper. If you need a form, please let me know. Registrations are already coming in for our Regional Meet to be held August 19-21, 2010 in Bend, OR. This has always been a great event, and this one is shaping up to be no exception. Please register early if you plan to have a car judged, and it is also a good idea to make your room reservations as early as possible. If you are not sure about having a car judged, you should go ahead and register. If you have to cancel, you will get a refund if you notify us prior to August 1, 2020. We are planning another mini-meet in October 2010 tentatively at the Benner’s in Sherwood, OR. Details will be announced later. If you would like to have your Corvette at one of the mini-meet////judging schools, please let me know. And if you have any ideas for improving our judging experience, please let one of us know.

Editors Rambling’s by Eric Falk

I became the editor of this news-letter in November 2007. Since then I gave “The Front Bumper”

a new look and added content that recognized our members, such as the photos integrated into the title block on each cover. In November 2008 I took on the addi-tional task of Webmaster. My goal was to create a web-site that was attractive, informational, interactive and easy to be searched by members and non-members. I believe I accomplished my goal. I would never have been able to achieve success as the newsletter editor and webmaster without the assistance of many people, especially the current board of directors. It was the vision of Mike Benner that allowed the news-letter and website to change. He always told me he felt that both were the conduit of the chapter. I agree with him. It is with regret that I have decided to step aside as the newsletter editor but I can’t handle both tasks any longer. I consider them both to be living breathing entities that need to be tended often and with enthusiasm. There is too much work involved in both positions for any one person to handle. I don’t want to see either of them suf-fer so I can’t continue to in both positions. It’s time for another member to take over as Editor of the newsletter. It is a rewarding position, especially if you have a crea-tive side and enjoy writing. There are many of you who would be good at editing the newsletter and I encourage you to volunteer; you won’t be disappointed. Please contact Mike Benner as soon as possible if you are interested in becoming the editor of the newsletter. You may also contact me if you have any questions re-garding the position. The next issue needs to be pub-lished by May 1, 2010 so don’t delay. It has been a pleasure to work with those of you who contributed. Thanks for taking the time to provide arti-cles, photos, and other content. A special thanks to those of you who took the time to compliment and thank me; your kind words inspired me.

Area Coordinators Report Spokane Area w e are thinking of

participating in the road tour to Charlotte,

modified to our working schedules. The plan is to take a red eye to St. Louis the night of July 8th and join the road tour there. They have planned a visit to the Corvette Museum planned for the 10th and travel some nice scenic roads on the way to Charlotte. Let me know if you are interested in joining us. -Mike Doty

W e have two new members for 2010; please welcome Joe and Ana Haley from

Spokane. They are owners of a 61, 63 coupe FI, and 66 convertible 427/425.

Also please welcome Andy and Maryl Lee Orton from Snohomish WA, they are owners of a 59 and 65. Thanks to everyone who paid their 2010 Northwest Chapter Dues early. I’m working on the 2010 Membership Directory. It will be different from previous years in that we will not be printing a booklet to mail out to the members, instead it will be emailed to each of the members with an Event schedule. The Directory will be updated each quarter with new members added and sent out with a current Event schedule. This will ensure new members will be added to the Directory without waiting for the next years directory to be published. Anytime throughout the year you can change your information. Just send me an email at [email protected] and I will include it in the next quarterly published Directory.
