Chairman’s Desk
Dear All,
As the sun sets for the last time in 2007 and ushers the dawn of a fresh
year, it is t ime for us to step back and take stock of the year that has
just gone by.
It is a matter of great satisfaction that 2007 has been quite a remarkable
year for the Era family. During the year the Era family has achieved
remarkable growth in size, both in terms of family members as well as
in terms of business.
During the year a lot of emphasis was made on brand building and the
positioning of the Group in the various business segments it operates in.
As a part of this exercise, the leading Group Companies were suitably
rechristened. This coupled with appropriate media campaign and good
all-round performance of the various verticals of the Group has made
Era a reputed brand.
It has been our effort to make our operations more and more integrated
and synergised. Whilst we have been prudent to diversify, we have also
been cautious and sensible to expand in areas which help to strengthen
and harness our potential . And as a corollary to our expertise in
infrastructure development, we took one giant step in this direction by
incorporating a separate company to undertake power projects. This
Company will target to ultimately establish power projects using our
experience and expertise of erecting such projects.
New Year is a time
for celebration of
love, of life, of
Friendship.
It's the time to
thank God for
wonderful friends,
and to bring to
their lives as much
magic as they
bring to ours...So
here's celebrating
& praying that its
magic continues
forever.
May each day of
the coming year
be vibrant and
new bringing along
many reasons for
celebrations
May this year
mark the
beginning of a
year of pleasure
and discovery
for you. May each
day hold
something special
that is wonderful
and new... For you
deserve the best
of everything, that
life can ever bring.
May all the dreams
in your eyes, all
the desires in your
heart and all
the hopes in your
life blend together,
to give you the
most spectacular
New Year ever.
If we look at the actual performance of the Group during this year, it
gives me immense satisfaction that our Order Books continue to swell
which is the most conclusive evidence of our capability to deliver.
During the year our Construction Division received numerous Projects
including one from the one from the Aravali Power Project Limited
valued at Rs.620 crores (including cement and steel), the largest civil
contract awarded to the Company t ill date. As I have already indicated,
we believe in growth that integrates our operations. In a yet another
step in this direction we have decided to have a large number of RMC
plants across India to ensure t imely and economic supply of RMC for
our projects throughout the country. The first RMC Plant set up at Dadri
is already functional . Soon many more such plants would be
operational.
The Building Systems Division of the Group is making impressive
progress and we hope to achieve the numero uno position in this field
soon. Real Estate is dubbed to be the sunshine sector of Indian
Economy. And we cannot miss the opportunity presented to us by this
sector. We have already received a couple of licences during the year
for Faridabad and Palwal. A large number of our applications are resting
with various Town Planning Departments and we expect get the
necessary approvals in the coming months and be in a position to launch
a number of Projects soon.
Entertainment and Retail Sectors are two other areas which have huge
potential for growth. We at Era do recognize this and have already
geared up to encash the opportunities available in this sector. Era
Landmarks and Era E-Zone have already prepared a Road map for
creating waves in this field and we hope the coming year wil l see us get
firmly entrenched in these sectors too.
All in all year 2007 was quite sat isfying but we cannot rest on our
accolades. The successes of 2007 should goad us to scale greater heights
since we must remember that the top slot is always vacant.
Before I conclude, I would like to wish each and every member of the
Era Family the very best for 2008.
H.S. Bharana December 31st, 2007

New Year Celebrations
As they say that all good things come to an end, so did the year 2007. The year full of
hard work, hopes and achievements henceforth .An ERA of magnificent times shared
together and some unprecedented events, those will be remembered for years to come.
To bid a goodbye to the year that was leaving us, we needed to plan something grand
and what better way to do that, than having a day full of energy and sportsmanship.
Hence we planned Cricket Matches among the various officials sitting at different
office facilities, Bhogal, Noida and Okhla.
Team building in itself was quite an experience as the competitive spirit among the
players, to be the part of the team, could be witnessed clearly, as all of them were
willing to represent and give the competitors a hard time. It started with nominations,
took off to selections, rejections and eventually three teams were built for the
respective offices.
It was a Sunday, and was destined to be an eventful day. The added attraction was the
Cricket Match among ERA Group and State Bank of India which was the first match
of the day. Our highly spirited players reached the Gargi College Ground at 8 am, that
was marked as the battlefield of the day .The ground was set, pitch was healthy and
ERA team was all set to take on the game under the captaincy of our Honorable
Chairman, Mr. H.S. Bharana.Team constituted of veterans like Sanjay Gupta (Cashier)
and Dipesh Gill who have a well pronounced presence in the world of corporate
cricket.
The match started at 10 am and went on till 1 pm. Despite the best efforts and unbeaten
conviction of our players, we had to give that game to SBI. Nevertheless, two more
games were there for our players to showcase their unmatched talent. Before that, it
was time to enjoy the mouthwatering delicacies laid down by our expert Admin team
headed by Mr. Brijesh Chaprana. The lunch was memorable as some of the executives
were accompanied by their families. It seemed like a gathering where we all were
feasting like one big happy family among light hearted chit chat, official discussions
and various speculation about the winner of the day.
After the teams have had a hearty meal, it was time to face the rivals in the cricket
grounds. First match was decided as Noida Vs Bhogal .Both the teams were in best of
the spirits and ready to face the challenge. Both were roaring to emerge as winners
under the captaincy of Mr. P.K. Dixit and Mr. T D Arora respectively. It was a 10 over
match. As it caught the heat, the crowd was seen screaming and cheering their fellow
workers. A few remarkable bowling and fielding efforts were witnessed. One of those
was a wonderful catch by Mr. T.D. Arora Sr. V P Construction Division, where he was
seen somersaulting his way to take the wicket, and he did accomplish the task.
However, Bhogal office team was beaten by Noida office and their disappointment was
quite apparent.
Next was the last and final match, which was Noida Vs Corporate. Corporate team was
headed by Mr. Sanjay Gupta V P Finance and constituted of most number of players
from IT Department. Honorable Chairman decided to support the corporate team. He
ended up taking four wickets of the opponent team which changed the entire face of
the game. Few other players like Mr.Sushant Bhatnagar and Mr. Jitendra Kumar from
this team gave a fantabulous play and a strict competition to the rivals.Corporate team
exceeded everyone and surfaced as the winners of the day.
The excitement was building up as we were proceeding towards price distribution
ceremony. The outstanding players were felicitated and rewarded for their uncanny
talent. Best bowler was bagged by Mr. H.S. Bharana, Best Batsman was Mr. Shishpal
from Noida team, Mr. Jitender Kumar from Corporate team could not hide his smile
when he was awarded with the Man of The Match Trophy. Very well deserved Man of
the Tournament Trophy went to Mr. P.K. Dixit who joined us to celebrate this day all
the way from Pant Nagar. Finally, the most coveted prize of the day, the Winner’s
Trophy was handed over to the Corporate team which could not stop roaring and
screaming to acknowledge their fabulous win.
The culmination of the event gave a semblance of the end of a successful ERA and a
fresh new beginning to even more challenging times ahead. To sum it up, it will be the
most remembered and talked about day of 2007.
I wish all of you a wonderful year ahead.

The Year that WasThe Year that WasThe Year that WasThe Year that Was –––– 2007 in Retrospect 2007 in Retrospect 2007 in Retrospect 2007 in Retrospect
By the time this art icle goes online, 2007 would
have been consigned to history. And it is time for
us to stand back and take stock of the performance
of the real estate sector during the year just gone
by. This sector was presumably undergoing some
kind of correction in most of the markets which
had witnessed frenetic activity over the past few
years. That resulted in a slowdown and in some
cases softening of prices in some cities, in certain
cases upto 20%.
However, the slowdown or softening of prices opened up new avenues
for the real estate sector with a shift in focus from the Metro and other
large ci ties to the Tier-II and Tier-III cities thus taking planned and
quality development to these places. This has in turn given birth to a
very large number of local players which in the long run may not be
very good for the industry since quality and timely delivery of projects
may become casualties. But we shall have to wait and watch.
Besides the opening up the smaller cities and towns to planned
development, a significant opportunity has been presented by the
proposed SEZs. Though the Government could have handled the entire
SEZ controversy in a far more appropriate manner and I am not very
sure if all the concerns and grey areas in the relevant policies have been
addressed, yet there is no denying that the spate of approvals has
presented remarkable and unheard opportunities to real estate
developers. I am confident that the fruit of this step by the Commerce
Ministry will reflect in the results of the real estate industry in the
coming years.
The year 2007 is also very significant for the real estate sector in that it
has provided a roadmap for the growth of this sector in a large number
of cities. Yes I am referring to the finalization of Master Plans of a
large number of cit ies. And a common feature of al l these Master Plans
is bringing a large land mass within the scope of urban development.
This of course was overdue in view of the huge mismatch between the
demand and supply of residential accommodation, specially for the LIG
and the MIG. And it is hoped that developers would now focus more on
these two segments of the society since land prices have been reined in
with more land available for planned development.
All in all the year 2007 has been a pretty good year for the Real Estate
Sector and there is every reason to hope that the coming years would
bring more cheer and more consolidation for this sector.
