RESEARCH SKILLS
Increase students information literacy skills commonly used in the research process. The librarian in collaboration with faculty will work with students to develop the following skills:
• identify what information is needed• identify the best sources of information for a given need• locate those sources• evaluate the sources critically• share that information (including note taking, authenticity, writing,
and presenting
Students will learn how to use Noodle Tools-electronic platform for developing research skills and how to create a Wikispace.
NOODLETOOLSNoodletools is a rich electronic platform for developing information literacy skills/research skills.
Professional Development• With the support of the librarian, teachers will
learn how to use Noodletools for the benefit of their students.
PEER TUTORINGThirteen students, 11 freshman, 1 incoming sophomore, and1 incoming junior
• In process of being trained to tutor students in need of writing support including the help with information literacy skills
• Can take place during office hours or after school hours
• Will work with academic support to identify students’ needs and best pairing of tutors with students.
LIBGUIDES
Faculty will continue to
Post lesson plans on Libguides
Develop their individual guides
Librarian will meet teachers one-on-one if needed
Librarian will continue to develop the library’s libguide
TURN IT INLibrarian will work with faculty on a one-on-one basis to set up their classes and assignments. This must be done before students can upload assignments.
Turn It In Capabilities• Electronic plagiarism detector-offers largest
resource for identifying plagiarism• Teaches students authenticity and responsibility• Grademark capability-finds errors, gives the
grammar rule, and makes suggestions for editing
LIBRARY TIME
This vision is to proceed towards allowing students to visit the library during school hours for the following reasons:
Quiet Time for reading and reflecting
A place to to homework
Time to browse the shelves
(***Circulation decreased during the last quarter of the 2011-2012 school year when a hiatus was placed on students visiting the library during school hours.)

MONDAY, TUESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
8 a.m. to 2 p.m.Be patient with yourself and your students.
