Bi-directional digital audio, data, contact closure multiplexers / demultiplexers CSX111, 123 & 222.
Introduction
The CSX111, 123 and 222 units are bi-directional multiplexers / demultiplexers, which can transmit audio, data and current loop channels (depending the CSX unit in question) within a single CFO series video channel. A separate video channel is required for each transmission direction. Depending on the chosen CFO video modem, high quality audio and/or data signals can be achieved for typical distances of 3 to 4 kilometres on multimode optical fi bre and up to several tens of kilometres on singlemode fi bre.
CSX units are compatible with all CFO rack systems.Stand-alone options are available with the CMA021 module adapter and separared CPS series mains adapter.

Frame Installation
The CSX unit is to be pushed along the guide rails into the installation frame (e.g. CSR216 or 316 series) and secured with the four locking screws. The unit can be freely positioned in any slot in the frame (10HP). The empty positions in the frame should be blanked off with cover plates. The supply voltage is to be provided by a CPS384 or CPS390 power supply unit (the installation frame’s own power supply.)
Stand-alone Installation
The CSX unit can be installed for stand-alone use by using a CMA021 or CMA031 module adapter (see picture 1).The module should be mounted to a vertical surface. The 12V DC supply voltage is supplied by the means of a separate mains adapter with a regulated output,(e.g. CPS231). Please refer to separate documention for module adapters and mains adapters.

CSX111 (version D)
General
The CSX111 is a bi-directional audio multiplexer / demultiplexer, which can transmit 6 audio channels in a single CFO series video channel. A separate video channel is required for each transmission direction.
Settings before installation
The unit has some settings that must be defi ned by internal DIP switches before installation. See picture 5 for CSX111’s switch locations.
Master / Slave
Each bi-directional link must have a master unit and a slave unit. Master / Slave confi guration errors are shown by LED displays (see page 5 and table 6).
Note! Although the unit can be taken in use with default factory settings, the MASTER / SLAVE setting in bi-directional systems must always be determined to guarantee basic link operation.
Table 1. The underlined function is default factory setting (see picture 5).
Connection to a fi bre link
In typical installation the 6.6 Mb/s multiplexed data signal is connected from CSX’s LINE OUT connector to any available CFO link’s VIDEO INPUT connector. On the other end of link, data signal is again connected from CFO link’s VIDEO OUTPUT connector to LINE IN connector in corresponding CSX unit. If bi-directional service is required, a similar connection is needed by means of a separate return video channel.

The nominal input and output level is 0 dBm. The connector in use is a HD15 female connector (see picture 4). The audio inputs can be switched to either balanced or unbalanced, and the input impedance (between input +/-) to 600 Ω or high impedance. The audio outputs can be also switched to either balanced or unbalanced. The output impedance can be switched to 600 Ω or low impedance.

General
The CSX123 is a bi-directional audio, data and current loop multiplexer / demultiplexer, which can transmit 2 audio, 2 data and 2 current loop channels in a single CFO series video channel. A separate video channel is required for each transmission direction.
Settings before installation
The unit has some settings that must be defi ned by internal DIP switches before installation. See page 10 and picture 10 for CSX123’s switch locations.
Master / Slave
Each bi-directional link must have a master unit and a slave unit. Master / Slave confi guration errors are shown by LED displays (see page 13 and table 20).
Note! Although the unit can be taken in use with default factory settings, the MASTER / SLAVE setting in bi-directional systems must always be determined to guarantee basic link operation.
Table 8. The underlined function is default factory setting (see picture 10).
Single Channel Mode / Multi Channel Mode
This switch refers to data slot of the unit. In MCM mode, all data channels are in use and the bit rate has a standard value. If a higher bit rate is required, a SCM mode is selected. In SCM mode only the fi rst data channel of data slot can be used.
CSX222 (version F)
General
The CSX222 is a bi-directional data multiplexer / demultiplexer, which can transmit 6 data channels in a single CFO series video channel. A separate video channel is required for each transmission direction.
Settings before installation
The unit has some settings that must be defi ned by internal DIP switches before installation. See picture 18 for CSX222’s switch locations.
Master / Slave
Each bi-directional link must have a master unit and the slave unit. A Master / Slave confi guration error is shown with LED displays (see page 19 and table 27).
Note! Although the unit can be taken in use with default factory settings, the MASTER / SLAVE setting in bi-directional systems must always be determined to guarantee the basic link operation.
Table 22. The underlined function is default factory setting (see picture 18).
Single Channel Mode / Multi Channel Mode
These switches refers to equivalent slots of the unit, i.e. switch 2 refers to slot 1 (data 1 and 2), switch 3 to slot 2 (data 3 and 4) etc. In MCM mode, all data channels are in use and the bit rate has a standard value. If a higher bit rate is required, a SCM mode is selected. In SCM mode only the fi rst data channel of each slot can be used.

WEEE directive
Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) obliges that producers appropriately mark electrical and electronic equipment with the symbol indicating separate collection. This obligation applies to the equipment put on the market in EU after 13 August 2005.
Teleste devices which belong to the scope of the directive have been marked with the separate collection symbol shown below. The marking is according to the standard EN 50419. The symbol indicates that the device has to be collected and treated separately from unsorted municipal waste.
