OVERVIEW TECHNOLOGY
A device which plans exercise requirements and fixes short exercise schedules for the user (housewife) throughout the day.
WHAT IT HELPS WITH• Helps busy part-time housewives to manage time for exercising by
introducing the concept that exercising for a short period can make as much difference
• It reminds and provides tailored tips for thescheduled exercise.
Chronic degenerative diseases are responsible for a major proportion of morbidity and mortality among Singaporeans.
Among the modifiable risk factors investigated, physical activity has demonstrated a fairly consistent association with risk of colon cancer, cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis and mental health.

Most women stated lack of time due to work (36%) and family (33%) commitments as main reasons for not exercising.
Females (50%) fall largely below their active male counterparts (64%) in exercising
Part-time housewives, who are generally educated and largely conscious of the importance of exercising

Significant increase in exercising amongst housewives, from 35% in 2007 to 44% in 2008.
Main reasons given by women for sports participation are to keep fit and to maintain health.
Encouraging factors for them include the availability of time (50%) and the need to improve their health (17%)
Most common perceived benefit of exercise:Contribution to physical well-being (77.1% )Psychological well-being (13.8%)did not know the benefits, or thought that there was no benefit at all (9.1%)

(weight, height, age) - heart rate and calories burnt constantly noted
2 Choose setting – ring/vibrate, strap to hand/leg
3 Calculate housewives’ exercise requirements –length and intensity- Around 10 min per session
Device:
BMI: Using weight and height, the Body Mass Index is standardised health measurement. The ideal range is around 18½ -25.
HR at rest: Generally the lower your resting heart rate is, the fitter you are.
HR Target: The range at which your heart rate should be during exercise, based on age and your resting heart rate.
