JA Celebrates Family Day and Christmas Gift- Giving with SNS residents

With the support of JBLFMU-

Arevalo employees, the JA Christ-mas 2014 dubbed as “Family Day with SNS Folks” was successfully

Several offices showed en-thusiasm about the activity and cheerfully gave their gifts to the

elderly and marginalized families . They were as follows: accounting, cashier, administration, services

and facilities, purchasing and prop-erty custodian, IS, and AAO/

JTAC. Also present to hand over their gifts were representatives of the registrar, HR, academic coordi-

Two NV schools given seminar –workshop on BLT sustainability and Marine Resource Management

The BLT parents, brgy. offi-

cials and faculty of Salvacion Ele-mentary School and Igang Elemen-tary School of Nueva Valencia,

Guimaras were given seminar on Marine Resource Management and workshop on BLT sustainability on

November 19, 2013. The facilita-tors were Mr. Lowe Blanco and Ms. Lizel Quibot, both BLT offic-

ers of the university. In the morn-ing, the seminar was held in Salvacion Elementary School, Nue-

va Valencia, Guimaras to parents and teachers of the said school. In

the afternoon, the same activity was carried out in Igang Elementary School of the same municipality.

The purpose of the activity was to

educate men and women on the proper care and use of the natural

resources especially the marine re-source because this is where they

get their daily sustenance. The sem-inar according to the participants proved to be interesting because of

its relevance to typhoon “Yolanda”

which has just hit Visayas regions.

Guimaras was not affected , howev-er, according to the participants the said seminar has informed them

about their responsibilities in caring the environment. One of the Brgy officials at Salvacion also gave ad-

ditional inputs regarding the results of studies of UP on the improper garbage disposal that resulted to

coral destruction. His inputs shed light to many residents why some seashells and fishes are getting

scarce in the area. After the lecture and discussion on marine preserva-

tion, Mr. Lowe Blanco continued his presentation on BLT sustaina-bility assisted by Ms. Lizel Quibot.

.

After the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) learned about the

init iat ives of the JBLFMU systemon relief operation for the “Yolanda” victims, Ms. LA Aba-

los-Cruzat -the foundation’s pro-gram manager advised JA-CES of-fice to get 12 sacks of rice from the

JGF’s supplier at the TSK Cooper-

ative store in Jaro, Ilolo City.

The 12 sacks of rice then formed part of the total resources

collected from the faculty and staff of JBLFMU Arevalo who also pledged an amount through the ac-

counting office for the typhoon vic-tims. The accounting office re-

leased the fund the day before the actual relief operation on Novem-ber 20, 2013 in the three barangays

of Carles, Iloilo.

The relief operation for the vic-

tims of super typhoon was initiated

by the Chief Executive Officer of

JBLFMU-Dr. Ronald Raymund

L. Sebastian who urgently advised

all units to respond to the pressing

needs of the survivors. Heeding his

call, all units through the CES of-

fices started to engage in a solicita-

tion and fund-sourcing activi-

ties from which the proceeds

were pooled for the whole system

to address the survivors’ immediate

needs. Thus, JGF being a tie-up

agency of the university was also

tapped for the said endeavor.
