Well in advance of the COA application deadline contact staff to discuss your project and, if necessary, to make an appointment to meet with staff for a project consultation.Complete all applicable items and submit with the COA application form. Staff can assist you in determining what items are required for your scope of work. An incomplete application may cause delays in processing or may be deferred to the next agenda. Application materials must clearly represent current and proposed conditions. Refer to Houston Code of Ordinances, Ch. 33 VII, Sec. 33-241 for approval criteria for alteration, rehabilitation, restoration and additions.

1. RENOVATE THE LANDMARK SUBJECT BUILDING TO INCLUDE RENOVATE THE LANDMARK SUBJECT BUILDING TO INCLUDE 1.1.1. REMOVAL OF THE LEAN-TO SHOWROOM ADDITION ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING. THE WINDOWS ARE BEING INSTALLED IN SUCH MANNER AS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE FENESTRATION RHYTHM ESTABLISHED BY THE ORIGINAL BUILDING DESIGN. NOTE THAT PICTORIAL EVIDENCE DEMONSTRATES THAT THIS SIDE OF THE BUILDING WAS LOCATED VERY CLOSE TO ANOTHER BUILDING TO ITS EAST. THERE IS NO ORIGINAL WINDOW PATTERN TO REPLICATED. 1.1.3. EXISTING WINDOWS ON THE WEST SIDE WERE INFILLED WITH MASONRY AT SOME POINT IN EXISTING WINDOWS ON THE WEST SIDE WERE INFILLED WITH MASONRY AT SOME POINT IN THE BUILDING'S LIFE. WE PROPOSE TO REMOVE THE INFILL MATERIAL AND INSTALL NEW WINDOWS THAT, WHILE NOT MATCHING THE ORIGINAL WINDOWS IN THE FRONT, MIMIC THE PATTERN ESTABLISHED IN THE FRONT WINDOWS. 1.1.4. RESTORE THE FAN MEDALLION AND RELATED EMBELLISHMENT AROUND THE ENTRY RESTORE THE FAN MEDALLION AND RELATED EMBELLISHMENT AROUND THE ENTRY 1.1.5. RESTORE THE PILASTER DETAILING. INSTALL PILASTERS ON THE EAST ELEVATION THAT RESTORE THE PILASTER DETAILING. INSTALL PILASTERS ON THE EAST ELEVATION THAT MIMIC THE EXISTING ELEMENTS ON THE WEST AND SOUTH. 1.1.6. PROVIDE SCALLOPED CORNICE DETAIL ALONG THE EXISTING PARAPET PROVIDE SCALLOPED CORNICE DETAIL ALONG THE EXISTING PARAPET 1.1.7. THE EXISTING ROOF AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM ARE TO REMAIN. THE EXISTING ROOF AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM ARE TO REMAIN. 1.1.8. PROVIDE BLADE SIGN ELEMENT TO MATCH THE ORIGINAL BUILDING SIGN. PROVIDE BLADE SIGN ELEMENT TO MATCH THE ORIGINAL BUILDING SIGN. 2. RE-SKIN THE EXISTING TWO STORY BUILDING TO PROVIDE A SYNTHETIC STUCCO FINISH THAT RE-SKIN THE EXISTING TWO STORY BUILDING TO PROVIDE A SYNTHETIC STUCCO FINISH THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE LANDMARK BUILDING. PARAPETS WILL BE CONSTRUCTED AND THE ROOF SYSTEM REWORKED TO PROVIDE POSITIVE DRAINAGE AND INCREASED STRUCTURAL LOADING CAPACITY (UPDATE STRUCTURE TO CURRENT BUILDING CODE). PROVIDE NEW ROOF DRAINAGE SYSTEM 4. CONSTRUCT NEW TWO STORY ADDITION AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE STRUCTURE. CONSTRUCT NEW TWO STORY ADDITION AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE STRUCTURE. 5.
