I Basic & Social Science experts will discuss unique challenges of research in their diverse disciplines & the complexity of conducting research in global settings. Sessions will include a dialogue between disciplinary experts on the similarities & differences in their adaptation of methodology in the conduct of culturally sensitive global research. A novel feature of this educational experience will be an extensive discussion & focus on the cultural and ethical challenges of conducting research in resource-poor settings. Students may choose to focus on Basic Sciences or Clinical/Behavioral/Social Sciences in this course. The two week workshop will be followed by a presentation of ideas developed through group work.
