Scope of the Project

• The scope is to deliver viewing and investigative

capabilities to collaborators of CERN

• CERN is an global scientific collaboration, the design data must be available to the collaborators which are geographically remote or/and unfamiliar to the local PDM system, CAD or engineering.

Costs for CERN Communication with vendor ended in the initial phase

Way too much, (commercial license)

Academic license

Costs for collaborator none Paying per viewing none

Software abandoned due to missing collaboration from the side of vendor. The system too complicated, we did not managed to set it up.

License terms and conditions of the software vendor made it impossible for CERN to use this solution.

Academic license acquired after settling the dispute over legal issue. By time of updating of this presentation (February 2012) the license was not yet received by CERN.
