WORLD CHAMPIONS SHORT BIOGRAPHIES

JOSH SCHNEIDER

USA Swimming National Team member Josh Schneider began swimming at the age of 14. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Josh attended Taylor High School before enrolling at the University of Cincinnati where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 2010. During his senior year, Josh became the first Bearcat to earn an NCAA National Championship, winning the men’s 50-yard freestyle title with a swim of 18.8. Josh is now training under the direction of Monty Hopkins, hoping to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Swim Team and represent the United States at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Good luck to Josh!

APRIL KERLEY

April started swimming at age 6. She swam at Xavier University and has stayed in Cincinnati for her professional career. Born without her right hand, April has established herself as one of the top freestyle sprinters in her classification as a Paralympian finishing fifth in the 50 m freestyle in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China and winning silver in the same event at the 2006 IPC Swimming World Championships in South Africa. During the 2006 Championships, she was also a Gold Medalist and World record holder in the 4x100 m freestyle relay. April trains with the Mason Manta Rays USA Swim Team in Cincinnati aiming for her second Olympics in 2016. Good luck to April!

DAN KETCHUM

Dan was born in Cincinnati and swam for the Cincinnati Marlins swim club. He attended Sycamore High School and graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Dan earned a Gold medal by swimming for the U.S. team in the 4X200-meter freestyle relay in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. He coached the Loveland High School Swim Team during the 2009-2010 season.  

EMILY BRUNEMANN

Emily is from Kentucky and started swimming at age 8. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Psychology. She is the first American to ever win the FINA World Cup Circuit. She has won a total of 5  FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World cup races: 2 in 2011 including a race in Shantou, China and Hong Kong's Repulse Bay, and 3 in 2013 including a race in Santos, Brazil, Viedma, Argentina and Quebec, Canada. She was awarded 2009 USA Open Water Female Swimmer of the Year. Emily’s swimming goals for 2014 are to make the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships Team which will travel to Australia. She is currently training at the University of Michigan and hopes to make the 2016 Olympic Team in the 10K Marathon Swim. Good luck to Emily!

DAVID MOSKO

David was born in Cincinnati, started his swimming career at the age of 6 and swam for the Cincinnati Marlins Club. He attended St. X High School and graduated from Stanford University with a B. Sc. in Biomechanical Engineering. He was a semi-finalist at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Trials and an Ohio high school state record holder and eight- time State Champion (four individual, four relays). David is currently a Coach with the Cincinnati Marlins at Sycamore and a medical student at the University of Cincinnati.

SCOTT USHER

Scott was born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a BA in Criminal Justice and married a Cincinnatian. He competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece where he took seventh place in the 200-meter breaststroke. Some of his other swimming accomplishments are earning a silver medal at the 2006 World Championships, earning a bronze medal at the Pan-Pacific Championships in 2005 and earning bronze at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials. Scott has been a clinician for USA Swimming, an assistant coach at Purdue University and Miami University.
