Manual clamping:

By turning the actuator to the right (approx. 3.5 revolutions) the lock rod moves towards thecentre. Due to the angled ball tracks the clamping balls are pushed outwards into the bores ofthe cutting head, drawing it towards the location face and into the adapter. During thismovement the adapters are elastically deformed allowing true taper and face location.

This results in a stable and precise connection.

With manual clamping the actuator has to be fixed applying a defined torque:

Torques: UT40: 16 NmUT50: 32 NmUT63: 50 Nm

Unclamping is achieved by turning the actuator to the left. The lock rod moves outwards andthe clamping balls retract. The taper remains in the self-locked condition (taper ratio 1:10).The cutting head is released via positive axial thrust through the bump-off pin.

Manual clamping is mainly applied in the field of modular constructions and lathes with longertool changing intervals.The extremely short and compact construction represents a further advantage.

The new quick lock:

The possibilities of the new TIZIT MAXIFLEX UTS quick lock are particularly useful onlathes with frequent tool changes.

With the new MAXIFLEX UTS quick lock full actuation is achieved by a 140° rotation of aneccentric cam. Through the cam movement the lock rod is moved axially.The tried and tested principle of ball clamping is maintained, but the defined clamping forceis produced through disc springs. Both, when clamping and releasing cutting heads, therotation of the cam is limited through a fixed stop. Therefore a torque key is no longernecessary for the new TIZIT MAXIFLEX UTS quick lock.

Driven units

On a lathe turning, drilling and milling is possible with only one clamping operation when using driven units.

By means of the standardised tool interface TIZIT MAXIFLEX UTS every driven unit can be applied for all machiningmethods, namely drilling, tapping and milling.

With reference to practical operation this means a considerable reduction of tool changing times, higherflexibility in production as well as lower investment costs, compared to conventional driven units.Therefore minimum quantities of driven units are necessary, which can be applied universally.

PLANSEE TIZIT delivers driven units for almost every type of lathe.

In order to be able to make an application proposal, the following information is required:

• brand and type of machine• type and size of tool interface (according to DIN standard or special)• type and size of drive clutch (according to DIN standard or special)• orientation: straight or angled• orientation: left or right• maximum turret indexing clearance diameter• maximum tool length• UTS size• coolant supply

1. Grease clamping balls (Gleitmo 805k) and insert into canister.

2. Connect actuator with lock rod (preclamping).

3. Screw into the UTS holder until the lock rod reachesapprox. 3 mm into the bore of the bump-off pin(guide for bump-off pin forward).

4. Mount O-ring onto bump-off pin.

5. Press bump-off pin into the canister engaging with lock rod.

6. Check functions.

7. Secure bump-off pin with 2 cylinder screws.
