The program goal is to support start-ups with the potential to employ significant numbers of Omanis poten- tially from the drilling services segment of the industry which has recently seen reduction of Rig count an area which is highly omanized. During the month we have successfully conducted a “Get to know Opal” event in Salalah. Our attention was focused on the Dhofar region. The Introduc- tory workshop was a great opportunity for companies to meet our Manage- ment Team and stay informed about all the benefits which Our Society is bring- ing to its members. I will use this momentum to remind you on our upcoming Oil & Gas Conference that will be take place in Grand Millennium Hotel, Muscat on 29-30th October. Also starting on Sep- tember 12th and 13th, we are support- ing the “Oman Workplace Safety and Loss Prevention Conference 2017” in collaboration with Tafani. We will be presenting a paper on the new Road Safety Standards. Hope to see as many of you there. The First Annual OPAL SPORTS WEEK now is rolling with intense speed. The Event which will promote partnership between OPAL members and the society in general is planned for period of 5-11th November. Stay updated on all our media channels with all the news and I encourage you to par- ticipate with as many as possible teams. Last but not least coming up are plans for the forthcoming Business Best Prac- tice Event. This time we are hoping to go BIG, perhaps even national! I had few brainstorming sessions with my team already and you will be hearing more of this in due course. Get pre- pared. After last year introductory of a new category - “Impact of Develop- ment of local SMEs on ICV elements” we are planning to implement two more. First will be “Business Best Prac- tice Award for CSR Project” and a sec- ond one, coming from R&D segment, and in conjunction with the Research Council, we will be introducing the “Innovation Encouragement Award”. The idea is to empower future Omani industrial Innovators, in their research, which will benefit the country as a whole and our Industry in particular. As you can see there are so many fronts where our focus is being laid. As the Voice of Oil & Gas Industry we are marching on to continue to serve the needs of our members and Society. (toco) & douglas ohI to demonstrate a commitment to create aware-ness and raise funds while creating opportunities for special needs in this community. we care centre is an orphanage school in Al Khoudh (muscat) which provides a platform for individuals to purchase handcraft-ed products made by their orphan girls, such as key chains, handmade soaps, coasters, Bags, candles, candle holders, Jewelleries and other unique Knick knacks that make lovely gifts. All the items for sale were made by the orphan girls, in-house, in the vocational training unit. they displayed their items in our office, and won our support through purchase of these items . Both douglas ohI and the oman construction company (toco) came together to support these orphan girls through a charitable craft fair which was organized in our offices on 1st August in douglas ohI and 2nd August in the oman construction company (toco). during the Event companies managed to raise omr 550.

oman society for petro-leum services (opal) and Eshraqa, Khirnji ramdas social development Arm have signed a mou (mem-orandum of understanding) to fulfil the nation’s training and development needs. the initiative will be implement-ed by the Khirnji training Institute in association with

Eshraqa and opal and comes in response to the country’s need for building its capacities in the area of national capital development. nailesh Khirnji and musallam Al mandhari signed the mou. According to the mou, the focus of the collaboration will target key interven-tions in the area of national human capital development in the following areas - training for Employment, training for development and training for leadership. under training for employment, candidates will be enrolled in vo-cational training ranging from four to six months with employment at any of opAl’s member organisations on completing their education at the school or college level.the programme’s training for development will offer 100 complimentary seats for management development programmes and international certification over a two to a four-day course for omani nationals working at opal and its mem-ber concerns. there are also 10 seats for career development programmes extending six to eight months for all omani nationals employed at opal or its member companies.the leadership Academy programme will focus on developing decision-mak-ing and leadership skills among omani nationals working at opal and organi-sations that are opal opal and organisations that are opal members.

At the end of August opal has organized press conference for media rep-resentatives. Among many attendees present were journalists from major omani media houses such are: muscat daily, times of oman, shabiba, oman tv and many more.during the conference it was highlighted that the event will be an opportu-nity for oil and gas professionals to boost their sports skills and cooperation with each other. It will also enhance the company’s partnership with the society. Abdullah Al sinani, hr executive manager said, “the day is meant to encourage communication between employees and also the society. It is a healthy way of involving staff in various activities and getting them to talk to each other and promoting a healthy lifestyle. we will update our social media channels about venues and other information.”the week will also encourage employees to be more active and network with members outside the com-pany.during the conference opAl has presented new logo for opAl sports ventures in the future. opal sports week will be held from 5-11 november 2017.
