  • Presidents Report

September 2015. Welcome to the September Centre Spoke. The AGM in August had a very good roll up of members and most of those that were not able to attend sent their apologies. I would like to welcome some new members to the committee and thank those that were on the committee last year for their effort. Alice Springs has had some very good motoring events during August and September. The Transport Hall of Fame Reunion was a huge success, with a large number of visitors and trucks coming to Alice Springs. The Reunion Dinner was the largest ever. The bar was very busy for the first hour or two and slowed down later in the evening. Wally and Alvina’s Austin truck was among the large contingent of over six hundred vehicles in the parade on Sunday. The organisers have asked me to pass on their appreciation to MECCA for their help.

The Red Centre Nat’s has been a huge success with a large contingent of entrants and spectators attending the event. MECCA had a good roll up of vehicles, those that did not enter this year have twelve months to get a vehicle ready for next year. All types of vehicles entered the event, from the top show cars down to the every day drivers, giving all of us the opportunity to enter and enjoy the weekend. It was good to see a number of MECCA members receive trophies for their vehicles. We have been told that 13,000 people visited the event, there were 450 vehicles entered and 300 vehicles participated in the vehicle parade.

In October we are expecting a contingent of vehicles from Port Augusta. They are expected to be here on the weekend of the October meeting and have asked to meet up with us. When we get more details a flyer will be sent out.

    Next meeting and run:

13th. Sept, 9:00 am. meeting. 13th Sep, 1 0:00 am: Run to Standley Chasm for lunch, food can be purchased at the Kiosk.

October meeting TBA. As always we would like to see your vehicle, however if your vehicle is off the road, we would still like to see you at the event so drive your everyday car. If you need more information please contact a committee member or myself. Safe Motoring. Colin Jarrett. Mob: 0457297271. Home: 89526261.

    “Hello Sarge”

    “Yes”

“It looks like we have a homicide here”

    “What happened?”

“ A woman has shot her husband for walking on the floor she had just mopped”

“Have you placed her under arrest”

    “No Sir”

    “Why not?”

    “The floor is still wet”
