II SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF THE EUROPEAN TECHNICAL A PPROVAL

1 Definition of product and intended use

1.1. Definition of product

CLOISON GRAPHITE 78 partitions consist of a aluminium framework of 80mm thickness, with either two layers of opaque board, out of which the external layer is pre-finished with wallpaper, either one or two glazed panel.

The maximum dimensions are 2700 mm high per 1204 mm wide.

The framework consists of aluminium profiles. For the ceiling and the floor is used type 78A111, 78A110 or 78A462 U-shaped aluminium profile. For the wall is used type 78A462 aluminium profile. This U-profiles are fixed to the substructure with 5.5x50mm screw per 550 mm.

The vertical profiles are fixed to U-shape ceiling and floor profiles by type AC21AVPA 2.5 mm steel brace.

The different board are fixed to the aluminium frame by pushing the board into the U-shaped ceiling profile and by falling into the U-shaped floor profile.

The insulating material is placed in the framework without any air gap.

On the vertical joint, the cap profile are fixed by clipping per 300mm.

3 Evaluation of Conformity and CE marking

3.1 Attestation of conformity system

The systems of attestation of conformity specified by the European Commission in mandate Construct 98/213/EC, Annex 3 as amended, are as follows:

System 1 for partitions - with Euroclasses A1*, A2*, B* or, C* concerning Reaction to fire, and for materials for

which a clearly identifiable stage in the production process results in an improvement of the reaction to fire classification

System 3 for partitions

- with Euroclasses A1**, A2** , B**, C**, D, E concerning Reaction to fire, and for

materials not covered by system 1 - with any Fire resistance class - for uses subject to regulations on dangerous substances - with Safety in use category IV

System 4 for all other partitions, including partitions with Reaction to fire classes A1*** (without testing according to EC Decision 96/603/EC) to E*** and F. * Products/materials for which a clearly identified stage in the production, results in an improvement of the reaction to fire classification; (e.g. an addition of fire retardants or a limiting of organic material). ** Products/materials not covered by footnote (*) *** Products/materials of class A1 that according to Decision 96/603/EC, amended by EC Decision 2000/605/EC, do not require to be tested for reaction to fire.

3.2 Tasks of the manufacturer

3.2.1 factory production control

The manufacturer exercises permanent internal control of production. Quality control checks are made on incoming materials, and at regular stages throughout the production sequence to ensure the quality and fitness for use of the components.

The quality control on the components includes checks on dimensions, material quality.

The manufacturer preserves a file describing the task and test made by himself. This file includes information: on the main components of the kit; the gypsum boards, the wood particleboard, the insulation material, the aluminium profile, the glass, and also on the control plan, which includes type and frequencies of the control.

3.2.2 Initial type-testing of the product

The results of tests performed as a part of the assessment for this European Technical Agreement shall be used unless there are changes in the production line or plant. In such cases the necessary type testing has to be agreed between the manufacturer and the CSTB.

3.3 CE-Marking

The CE marking shall be affixed to the packaging and accompanying commercial document.

Page 9: Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment - CSTB - European …webapp.cstb.fr/agrement-technique-europeen/pdf/Doc_ETA... · 2006. 10. 10. · Weight : 10Kg/m 2 Glazed panel Type

4 Assumptions under which the fitness of the product for the intended use was favourably assessed

4.1. Manufacturing

All profiles, fixings and gaskets are placed on the market by SAB DIFFUSION

4.2. Installation

The main operations for installation are: − Scribing − Installation of ceiling and floor U-shaped profile − Installation of panels − Installation of post cap Installation details are given by SAB DIFFUSION in the Manufacturers Installation Guide.

5 Recommendations

5.1. Recommendations for packaging, transport, and storage

5.1.1.Packaging

SAB DIFFUSION ensures the packaging.

5.1.2. Transport

SAB DIFFUSION ensures the transport or let the purchaser to ensure the transport himself.

5.1.3. Storage :

The partition panels will be stored in a room specially provided for this purpose. The conditions to respect in storage facilities are those mentioned in the § 2.3. of the ATE guide, namely in particular :

− an average air temperature in the range from 5°C t o 35°C with a minimum of 0° and a maximum of 50°C;

− an average daily air relative humidity in the range from 20%RH to 75%RH.The maximum air relative humidity may exceed 85% RH only for short periods of time.

5.2. Recommendations for uses, maintenance and repair

5.2.1. Maintenance :

The ETA Holder recommends cleaning the partition according to the following specifications:

Under the normal conditions, it is enough, for the maintenance in a state of cleanliness of the interior elements, periodically to wipe them by means of a clean rag.

The partitions which were not cleaned during a prolonged lapse of time can be cleaned with soapy water, then rinsed with cold water. One finishes by a cleaning with a soft rag. The use of water and neutral liquid detergents is allowed.

Never not to use grittings, liquid or powders some, usually used for copper or unwrought aluminium.

The coating aluminium surfaces are simply washed with the water added with 1 % of Teepol and are rinsed with clear water.
