Establishing collaboration network with variousuniversities which are prominent in Vocationaland technology. In January 2018, the teamhave visited Karlsruhe Institute of TechnologyGermany to benchmark and share informationabout the curriculum, study programs that arein line with the study programs to be opened,namely: Information Systems and TechnologyEducation, Artificial Intelligence and RoboticsEducation, Industrial InstrumentationEngineering Education, Renewable EnergyEngineering Education, Food TechnologyEducation, Automotive Engineering Education.UPI chose Karlsruhe because they have allthose study programs in high level. Besides,UPI already has an MoA with KIT.

Public lecture held on 22nd March2018 invite Dr Nigel Carpenter asthe guest speaker with the theme"The Sustainable Development inTVET".

The seminar was attended byapproximately 100 participants.This public lecture was held togain knowledge about TVETSystem and TVET Best Practice inAustralia.

A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held to furthervivid the concept of the Center of Excellence (CoE)which was attended by the leaders of the Faculties,Department Heads and Study Programs, Professors,Senate Members, Team of Professional CertificationInstitution, TVET Research Center Team in the UPTFPTK environment. Besides presenting Dr. NigelCarpenter as the speaker, Mr. Abdul Malik was alsoinvited as a representative from ADB. While the inputsfrom participants were:• Research in advance related to the new Study

Program was proposed;• Reviewing the on-going Study Program that can be

collaborated to support the new study program;• Developing the right curriculum for the CoE;• Selecting appropriate training for lecturers and

employees in order to run the CoE Program;• Reviewing the comparison of various TVET systems

in Australia and Germany to enrich the TVETconcept in FPTK UPI and its implementation inIndonesia;

• Invite the Industry to involve in the CoE Program.

Conducting Visiting Lecture Series activities

Visiting Lecture Series activities with the themeUPI as Center workshop Excellence ofVocational Education: Optimizing VocationalLaboratories for Transferable Competencies.The speaker as a trainer was Dr. Michael Groschfrom KIT Germany. This activity was held onMay 10th, 2018. The main objective of thisactivity was to present the vocationallaboratory facilities at UPI for Center ofVocational laboratory. Particularly, it is expectedthat vocational laboratories at UPI are able toconduct self-assessments to map potentials andshortcomings. This analysis can then improveperformance to support more optimalcompetency transfers. The seminar wasattended by approximately 85 participants.

The speaker delivered his speech to explorethe possibility of UPI as a center of excellentvocational education. The outline is: to openand develop new Study Programs that arerelevant to workfield in the 4.0 industrial eras.

To develop a Vocational EducationResearch and Development Center (TVETResearch and Development Center);

To establish and develop ProfessionalCertification Institutions (LSP) and alsoprovide Test Site Competency (TUK)facilities;

To establish and develop quality TrainingCenters and Professional TeacherEducation.

On 23 & 24 July 2018. UPI sent representative tothe Asian TVET Expert Forum activities in Malaysiasponsored by the Malaysian Ministry ofEducation. ATEF activities have started since 2017.It was attended by TVET institutions from variouscountries such as Indonesia (UPI and UNY),Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore,Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea and China. The role ofUPI in ATEF is to initiate collaboration withindustries in various countries in Asia. The aim oforganizing ATEF 2018) is a platform to discusscurrent issues relating to Technical and VocationalEducation and Training (TVET) in higher education.TVET is vital to enhance skills that are necessaryfor poverty reduction, economic recovery andsustainable development. Higher educationthroughout the world has shifted their policyattention to TVET. Therefore, this network will bean alliance to outline strategies and action plan toenhance mutual collaboration amongparticipating institutions. JULY

On 2nd August 2018, the MoA was signed toestablish a certification institution forvocational and technological professions. UPIis part of the Agency for the Assessment andApplication of Technology (BPPT), theStrategic Industry Management Agency(BPIS), YALONG Inc, Habibie Program AlumniAssociation (IJABIE), and Indonesia'sCompetent Instructor Association (PIKI), INTIInc.

Prof. Syaom Barliana acted as the Board ofSupervisor; some lecturers were involved asadministrators. The Certification Institutionprogram is developing certified vocationaleducation.

On July 18, 2018 UPI FPTK Collaborated with PIKIOrganize Training / Workshop on ASQA StandardCompetency Certification.

In order to equalize competencies betweenvocational educators in Indonesia and Australia.Faculty of Technology and Vocational EducationUPI, collaboration with PIKI held a Workshop /Workshop on ASQA Standard CompetencyCertification (Australia) with the theme"Competency Certification System (SSK) 4.0 "forlecturers in the UPI FPTK environment. Thisworkshop aims to carry out PresidentialInstruction No. 9 of 2016 concerning Revitalizationof Vocational Schools in the Framework ofImproving the Quality of Indonesian HumanResources.

• UPI is a member of UNESCO UNEVOC since 2010. In2018, UPI will send lecturers of Information andTechnology to Germany for 2 months training. InOctober UPI send lecturers to attend TVET workshopsin Bangkok at UNESCO-UNEVOC activities sponsored bythe Korea Research Institute for Vocational Educationand Training (KRIVET).

• UPI also is a member of RAVTE (The “RegionalAssociation for Vocational Teacher Education in Eastand Southeast Asia” since 2011.

• UPI has The Indonesian TVET Research Centre, which ispart of the FPTK, conducts research and providesconsultancy for policy development in TVET. Throughthe close linkage between TVET research and TVETteacher education and a dynamically-developingcooperation with the economic sector and foreigninstitutions engaged in the development of TVET, theFPTK UPI is assuming an important role in the furtherdevelopment of Indonesia’s TVET system.
