CENTRE OF ENERGY STUDIES AND RESEARCH
The Centre of Energy Studies and Research (CESR), an autonomous organization established by Devi Ahilya University, Indore and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd., Bhopal in December, 1989 to serve energy related academic, research and development needs in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
CESR registered as a society under the Society Registration act (1973), is academically a part of Devi Ahilya University, Indore under the faculty of Engineering Sciences and based at its Khandwa Road Campus of Devi Ahilya University, Indore.

1. DETAILDED ENERGY AUDIT OF M/s Zenith Birla Steel Plant at Khopoli, Mharastra
Savings identified in terms of electricity = 763196 kWh/yr Savings worked out in terms of money = Rs. 49.22 lacs/yr Investment = Rs. 20.86 lacs Payback period = 5 months

Other Activities
1 A Detailed Project Report of 25 M3 based on Kitchen Waste Biogas Plant at Daly College, Indore prepared and submitted to MPUVN.
2.Physical Verification Work of Biogas Plants Installed by M.P.Urja Vikas Nigam in the year 2008-09. 265 plants physically verified and report has been submitted to the Nigam.
3.Training Programme on Improved Chulha A 7 days Training Programme on Improved Chulha was conducted
by our Centre for Bio-Ray Organization, Kasrawad, District Khargone. 10 participants including women were trained. The organization set a target of installation of 2500 Chulhas in the rural area around.

4.Physical Verification work of Remote Electrified Villages through SPV systems
The Centre has carried out Physical Verification work of 2457 House Holds (100% basis) in 22 villages for the Solar Photovoltaic Systems installed by the M.P. Urja Vikas Nigam, Bhopal. Status report has been submitted to the nigam.S.No. District Number of

Physical Verification work of Remote Electrified Villages through SPV systems
We have applied for the Physical Verification work of Remote Villages Electrified by the MPUVN and our rates are found to be the lowest in tendering procedure. Work order for the 20 districts is to be received.

5. Testing Programme
The Centre is providing Test facilities for Fuel, Reflectivity and Emissivity Test of Paints, Gasifiers and Testing of Energy Efficient Lighting systems to many industries.

6. DPR preparation for Solar City, Indore
We are appointed as technical consultant by the Nagar Nigam, for the preparation of Detailed Project Report to develop Indore as Solar City under the “Solar City” development programme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt . of India , New Delhi. DPR has been prepared and submitted to the IMC for further processing at their end.
DPR Preparation for 35 kWp grid connected SPV system for Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd.
We have been allotted the work to prepare DPR of 35 kWp grid connected SPV system by the Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. DPR preparation for the same is in progress and the report will be submitted soon.
DPR Preparation for Renovation of Street Light Network
We have prepared a DPR for Renovation of Street Light Network with energy efficient lighting network at I/IA,II, III and Kheda Growth Centre, Pithampur for M.P. Audyogik Vikas Nigam, Indore. 2700 number of street lights are to be replaced with the energy efficient lighting systems. Report has been submitted to the MPAKVN.
7. Educational and Training Programmes
The MNRE had set-up an Energy Park at CESR. The Park is a unique facility for demonstration of different renewable energy gadgets. A number of students, visitors, faculties and general public visit the park.
8.Other Achievements and Activities
Centre is listed as Consultant for Development of Solar City by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Centre has been approved as Certified Energy Auditing Agency by the MPUVN on its panel.
The Centre is supporting its sister concern School of Energy and Environmental Studies in their academic programmes i.e. M. Tech. (Energy Mgmt.) , M. Phil, (Energy and Environmental Mgmt.) and Ph.D. Programme.
9. Future ObjectivesThe centre aims at main thrust on the following Areas for fund generation:
Energy Audit and Energy Management Projects in Industries, Commercial and Residential Building sectors.
Third Party Verification for various agencies. Biogas based Power Generation projects. Testing of Fuels, Water, Solar Energy Devices etc.
10. Project Proposals Submitted for Funding Following Project Proposals have been submitted for
funding:-
Project on Modification Engine for Producer gas, submitted to MNRE
Regional Testing Centre for Biomass Gasifier
Detailed Energy Audit of Bhopal,Habibganj, Itarsi and Makronia Railway Stations.
One day Awareness and Training Programmes on Remote Village Electrification in district Raisen, Gwalior and Hoshangabad for the field functionaries, villagers and beneficiaries; submitted to MNRE through MPUVN
11. LimitationsDue to short of funds, the Centre is facing hardship and couldn't fill vacant positions and hence limits to achieve its set objectives. Present position of the staff is as under:
