Welcome to White Rocks Farm We would like to offer a warm welcome to White Rocks Farm and to our prospectus. The aim of this prospectus is to provide you with all the course information you will need during your time with us. We have also produced a student handbook which contains all the essential information you will need once you are registered with us. White Rocks Farm is an established specialist vocational centre that is committed to providing our students with qualifications as well as the essential life skills they will need to move onto the workplace. We pride ourselves on being a small specialised centre with a normal student/assessor ratio of 2 students to 1 assessor.

Our students learn through practical tasks and gain hands on experience with all the animals. Students have the opportunity to meet other learners and work within groups as well as individually and also to shadow relevant professionals such as vets, farriers, equine dentists and equine physiotherapists.

The majority of our Students are 14-19 year olds but we can accommodate Students as young as 12 if disengaging from mainstream education.

We are currently developing a 16+ Partnership working with KCC, so please contact us if you think this would be of interest to you.

It is possible for some of our Students to progress onto our vulnerable young apprentice program.

Our Head of Centre, Sue Woods has been at White Rocks Farm for 46 years. Sue has been training animals for film and TV work since 1987 and her credits include Whiskas, Sainsbury’s, Harry Potter and The Pudsey Movie to name a few. Sue also runs a successful Kennels and has previously trained horses and greyhounds for racing. Sue has been providing work experience opportunities for students with learning difficulties for 15 years through NVQ and has been running BTEC courses for 6 years.

Recent Developments at White Rocks Farm In December 2014 we purchased Rooks Hill Farm, 27 acres of farmland consisting of a commercial Apple orchard (now to be Organic), pasture and woodland. This piece of land has been purchased specifically to set up as an independent extension to our centre for the 16+ Students and vulnerable young apprentices. We plan to set up a Market Garden with the Students growing the vegetables and getting real life business experience selling their produce at our local farmers markets.
