Centre for Networking and Cyber Defense

(CNCD) at Hindustan Institute of Technology and

Science (HITS) was established in the year April

2013 with an aim to carry out research and

impart knowledge in Networking and Cyber

security. This centre has been formed with

domain expertise from Hindustan University,

HTC, IBM and D-Link . The centre is also

involved in doing community outreach

programmes to create awareness on cyber

security.

HIGHLIGHTS

• To conduct Basic and Applied research in network and

cyber defense.

• To train professionals in education in the areas of

networking and cyber defense through degree, non-degree

and public education programs.

• To collaborate with industry, government and academia in

the areas of networking and cyber defense.

• To provide consultancy and R&D expertise in networking

and cyber defense.

• To organize community outreach programmes.

OBJECTIVES

HITSATHON V 1.0 – HACKATHON COMPETITION, 2017

Hitsathon V 1.0 was organized on 4th and 5th August 2017 in association with Institute of

Engineering and Technology, iMorph Inc, Vuedata, Skillenza, Flytta, Freeing India, Elite

Gamer Lounge and Internshala. In this hackathon, students meet to engage in collaborative

computer programming to produce several usable software and hardware products

beneficial to the society. Around 300 students from 35 colleges all over India have

participated in the event.

worth Rs.5000 was given for best three performers.

A Conclave on Cryptography and Cyber Security was organized on 12th August

2016, for creating cyber security awareness among the researchers. Around 160

participants have attended the program of which 17 participants were from other

colleges like Easwari Engineering College, Jerusalem Engg. College, SRM University,

KVCET, MEC College and KCG College of Engineering.

Technology, Roorkee. He is an expert in vulnerability management, presentation

publications in referred journals and conferences.

Dr. B. Muthukumaran, GM, HTC-ITMR has specialized in strategizing and

delivering Information security (IS). He is a certified, Certified in ITILV2,

certified management consultant, certified in FOSS, and exposed to Network FP,

Vulnerability Testing, & Penetration Testing.

Dr. Nishanth Chandran, Microsoft Researcher has expertise in cryptography and

security. He has done his PDF in Microsoft and worked in AT & T labs as security

researcher. He has published 28 papers in refereed journals & conferences and 2

patents. He has delivered plenary and invited talk in Cryptography in leading

research organisations of US including IBM Watson lab.

Dr. K. Bhavana , Assistant Professor, IISc Bangalore. She is a visiting researcher

at Microsoft Research. Worked on research projects in the areas of cryptography

and security - specifically worked on constructing secure protocols for cloud

cryptography and tamper-resilient cryptography. She has more than 12

publications in security to her credit.

Mr. Harish Prasanna, Lead Technical Consultant. Experienced Developer with a

demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services

industry. Strong engineering professional, focused in Digital Forensics and

Cybersecurity from City University of New York-John Jay College of Criminal

Justice.

Dr.Debi Ashenden, Head-Centre for Cyber Security & Information Systems,

Cranfield University, Defense Academy of the UK. She is the Programme Director

for Protective Security & Risk at the Centre for Research & Evidence for Security

Threats (CREST).

Dr.Yves Roudier, Assistant Professor, Network and Security Department,

EURECOM, France. His research interests span ITS security, aspect-oriented

programming and model-driven engineering for security, secure P2P storage and

ubiquitous computing security.

Mr.Carsten Maple, Professor, Cyber Systems Engineering, Director of Cyber
