In 2015 the Welsh Government announced a £144M EU and Welsh Government investment into apprenticeships.

Pembrokeshire College leads a work-based Consortium (B-wbl) delivering apprenticeships, traineeships and work-ready programmes across south Wales.

Introduced in 2009, the Higher Apprenticeship route is a relative newcomer, but one that is increasingly having the edge over the traditional degree. The qualification is realistic, combining a Level 4/5 academic qualification with work-based learning. Unlike the degree route, the Higher Apprenticeship offers little or no debt.

Higher Apprenticeships are available in: Construction, Engineering, Accounting, Business Administration and Health & Social Care.
