Oct. 1 - DepartureYour pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA.

Oct. 2 - Arrive in Rome, ItalyArrive in Rome, Italy and embark on the Azamara Journey.

Oct. 3 - Sorrento, Italy Painful Providence - Acts - 21:27-22:16Today we will travel from Sorrento to Ancient Pompeii. It is a buried andruined Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania,in the territory of the comune of Pompei. It, along with Herculaneum (itssister city), was destroyed, and completely buried, during a catastrophiceruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days on 24 August79. The volcano collapsed higher roof-lines and buried Pompeii undermany meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1700 yearsbefore its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavation hasprovided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at theheight of the Roman Empire. Today, it is one of the most popular touristattractions of Italy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Oct. 4 - Amalfi Coast, Italy (On Own) Detours - Acts 22:17-24:27The Amalfi Coast will enchant you with its pastel cottages and deep baysof water, ever shifting from turquoise to sapphire. Enjoy stunning vistasas you travel a dramatic cliff top drive from Castel Gandolfo—the Pope’ssummer residence—to Sorrento. The postcard beauty of Positano hascharmed many generations of travelers, but the town of Amalfi steals theshow with its terraced groves of fragrant lemons, splendid Duoma andrich medieval history. As a maritime republic from the 9th to 13thcenturies; it’s no surprise that the compass was invented here.Shore excursions are booked through Azamara.

Oct. 5 - Sicily, Italy Storms of Life - Acts 27:13-38Explore Messina, a city rich in history, and the connecting point of the“Italian Boot.” In neighboring Taormina, climb to the mountaintopGreek Theater with its spectacular views of the Mediterranean andMt. Etna. Enjoy a gelato while shopping or simply wander the streetswith the occasional breathtaking view over the cliffs to the seasidebelow.

Oct. 6 - Valetta, Malta Survival Guide - Acts 27:39-28:10Paul was shipwrecked on Malta around 60 AD (Acts 9). After the Knights

of St. John successfully defended Malta against a massive Ottomansiege in 1565, they built the fortified town of Valetta, naming it aftertheir leader. Explore the Barrakka Gardens which were built on abastion of the city and offer a breathtaking view of the Grand Harbor.

Oct. 7 - At Sea The Times in Between - Acts 27:1-12

Oct. 8 - Chania, Crete,Greece (On Own) Extreme Measures - Acts 25Stroll through Chania's old city and see how it has been touched by amixture of Greek, Venetian and Ottoman influences. TheArchaeological Museum of Chania, which houses an extensivecollection of Minoan and Roman artifacts and replicas of ships datingback to the Bronze Age is just one of many places you can visit as youexplore Chania on your own. You can also discover the Byzantinecollection in the restored Church of San Salvadore, or venture to thenearby national park to hike the Samaria Gorge. There is plenty ofshopping and great seaside restaurants to enjoy as well. Shore excursions are booked through Azamara.

Oct. 9 - Santorini, Greece (On Own) Speaking for Ourselves - Acts 26Visit Santorini, one of the most beautiful of the Greek islands. Itspicturesque whitewashed villages with brilliant blue domes dot thecliffs above the Aegean Sea. The island itself perches on the edgesof a volcano whose eruption 3,500 years ago is thought to have ledto the collapse of the Minoan civilization. Shore excursions are booked through Azamara.
