• Last few weeks– Revenues will fall short of assumptions by $8B– Majority of solutions are short term/one time– Huge operating shortfalls reappear in future years; $30B+ in just a few

years

• March Sale of GO Bond Anticipation Notes - $6.5B – State has not wanted to sale due to cash flow crunch

• Medical payments; high interest rates

PPIC: Only one of the six measures on the May 19th ballot has majority support from likely voters.

An overwhelming 81 percent favor Proposition 1F, which would limit salary increases for state elected officials when the state faces a budget deficit.

Six in 10 Californians are concerned about having enough money to pay their rent or mortgage.
