Preparation

1. Clean the surface completely removing any particles, dust or

residue. Be sure not to sand any fiberglass door surfaces.

2. Remove all hardware and mask any items you do not want to

be painted nor stained.

3. Lay the door horizontally.

Staining Instructions

FIRST COAT

1. Begin with staining one panel at a time.

2. Start in the center of the panel, applying a light circular

motion and work the stain into the embossed grain. Then

apply long strokes and work into the direction of the grain.

3. Use a clean rag to remove all excess finish.

SECOND COAT

1. Allow the door to dry for at least 24 hours

2. Apply a small coat of stain using a lint free cloth. Finish with

a 2” bristle brush.

PROTECTIVE TOP COAT

1. Applying an exterior, UV resistant, polyurethane top coat can

extend the life of the stain.

2. After the stain has completely dried use a 2” bristle brush

and evenly apply the top coat.

3. Use 2 – 3 coats, allowing at least 24 hours drying time in

between each application.

Paint Instructions

1. After preparing the surface as detailed above prime the

door, using a 4” bristle brush and applying the primer in the

direction of the grain (ensure you follow the manufacturer’s

drying instructions).

2. Apply exterior grade paint with the brush and if a second

layer of paint is required always follow drying instructions.

Available in the clear and white internal grid glass options, the insulating value of Cardinal’s

patented coating is nearly double that of an ordinary insulated glass unit. In winter,

reflects heat back into the room. In summer, it rejects the sun’s heat and damaging

UV rays. The coating is virtually invisible to the eye yet blocks 84% of the sun’s harmful

ultraviolet rays. In fact, is the clearest, highest performing glass you can buy.
