Local Voluntccr Fireman responded to a call for help Saturday not to elltinguish a fire or an emergency but to help to elltinguish the crippling disease of muscular dystrophy. Local fireman manned stations around the Main intersection to collect donations at the volunteer toll. Residents responded io the firemen's efforts donating exceeding all expectations contributing more than $650 to the cause. Directing the local effort was Assistant Fire Chief Kenny Campbell. Fourteen Hale Center fireman volunteered to pass !he boot in the Fill A Boot campaign to help Jerry's Kids. The local firefighters donated their usual free time Saturday to help with the nationwide efforlS. The surprising contribution total was collected in a brief 6 hour periOd.
