GEORGIA’S VISIONSeveral strengths position Georgia to be a leader in the future UAS market. The Center of Innovation for Aerospace has identified three key areas for initial use of UAS in the National Airspace System: military, public safety and agriculture.

MILITARYGeorgia is home to 10 Department of Defense (DoD) military bases with major activities in testing, training and sustainment of military UAS.

PUBLIC SAFETYGeorgia, the 9th most populous U.S. state, has major public safety training centers and numerous public safety organizations as potential customers for UAS.

AGRICULTUREThe Center of Innovation for Aerospace is working to combine Georgia’s strengths in agribusiness and aerospace to create a whole new market in agriculture imagery services and UAS sales, service and leasing.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIESGeorgia has one of the largest public university systems in the nation with robust programs to expand the technology and applications of UAS.

GEORGIA TECHGeorgia Tech offers core technologies in Robotics, Control Systems, Sensors & Data Fusion, UAV Design and Collaborative Unmanned Systems Technology Demonstrators.

MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE COLLEGE’S SCHOOL OF AVIATION The state’s public aviation college, Middle Georgia State College, has developed programs in composite airframe technology and flight testing, as well as operator and maintenance training.

GEORGIA’S UAS PROGRAMSThe Center of Innovation for Aerospace is currently working with local industry partners and universities on several initiatives around UAS in order to advance the technology and business models for the future civil UAS market.

GEORGIA UAS WORKING GROUP Forum for discussion & exchange of information across all stakeholders in Georgia (UAS companies, universities, state agencies, DoD, FAA, etc.).

GEORGIA UAS TESTING CONSORTIUMDevelopment & certification testing of UAS including the integration of UAS into the National Airspace system with particular emphasis on military, public safety and agriculture.

INNOVATION PROJECTSThe Center of Innovation for Aerospace partners with industry/university projects in key areas of UAS technology such as Advanced Composite Structures, Sense & Avoid Control Systems, UAS flight testing and Agricultural Sensing.

UAS MARKET AN EMERGING OPPORTUNITY FOR GEORGIAThe Georgia Center of Innovation for Aerospace acts as a catalyst, creating opportunities for aerospace companies and their suppliers by connecting them to new technologies, university research, potential business collaborators and current industry information. The Center advances recognition of Georgia’s strength in the global aerospace industry, including the emerging Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) market which includes the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and the ground based support that enable the vehicle’s mission. With the worldwide UAS market predicted to grow to more than $10 billion annually by 2021, Georgia is well positioned to take advantage of the increased market opportunities.
