Center Line Homeschool Partnership Parent Handbook
Revised 1-12-15
Days of School
HSP will start the Tuesday after Labor day.
When the district is closed, the Center Line Homeschool Partnership is closed.
On days when school is closed due to weather, parents will be notified by a phone call from the
district.
Mentor Contacts
A weekly contact with our mentor teacher is required. This is quick and easy and may be in
person while your student is in the building, by email, text or phone. By law, in the state of
Michigan, the mentor teacher needs to have a contact log.
Mentor contacts run from Wednesday through Tuesday, beginning with the first Wednesday
after Labor Day and ending the Tuesday before the last day of school.
Extra care will need to be taken when the school is closed for part of an HSP Week. Parents will
be notified when there are limited days for contacts.
Classes
All students enrolled in the CL homeschool partnership are required to complete 2014/2015
Partnership Resources class in Discovery Education at the beginning of each semester. These
lessons will coincide with each count day. Count days are the first Wednesday in October and
the second Wednesday in February. One login will be before each count day, nine separate
logins after each count day.
All students must attend an on-campus event on each count day. This will serve as an
opportunity to update information with the partnership and count as attendance for count day
mandates.
Center Line Homeschool Partnership only offers enrichment courses, not core courses. All
classes are offered to Center Line Public Schools Students.

Discovery Education
All virtual and distance learning classes will have an on-line component offered through
Discovery Education.
New lessons will be posted every Wednesday, and must be completed the following Tuesday.
After two late or missing assignments, parents will receive a warning letter that their child is in
danger of losing the privilege attending the classes at the LADD Center or off campus until all
assignments are caught up.
After three late or missing assignments, children will not be able to attend the classes at the
LADD Center or off campus until all assignments are caught up.
After four late or missing assignments, students may be removed from the classes at the LADD
Center or off campus for the remainder of the semester.
Attendance:
Once a student is registered for a class, the school pays for your child to attend. Therefore, your
commitment to participate in the classes you have registered for is expected.
If you will not be attending any on-site classes, please send an email to [email protected]
to report your absence for the day.
Please do not come to classes if you or your child is sick or have a fever. Please send an email to
[email protected] to report your absence for the day.
If a class is missed twice, parents will receive a warning letter that their child is in danger of
losing the privilege attending the classes at the LADD Center or off campus until all assignments
are caught up.
If a class is missed three times, children will not be able to attend the classes at the LADD Center
or off campus until all assignments are caught up.
If a class is missed four times, students may be removed from the classes at the LADD Center or
off campus for the remainder of the semester.
Dual Enrollment
Students that wish to enroll in our dual enrollment college program must be enrolled before
October for the fall semester and January before the winter semester.
Dual enrollment is for the fall and winter semesters only. It will not include spring or summer
classes.
They must have attended at least one dual enrollment college class session before the October
and February count days.
In order to enroll in a winter semester college class, the student must have taken a fall semester
class for that school year through the Center Line Homeschool Partnership Dual Enrollment
program.
A report card must be turned into the Homeschool Partnership office at the end of each
semester in order to receive credit.
Dual enrollment requires that the student take one seated class and the same number of virtual
classes that the student is enrolled in at the college level.
There is a maximum of $600 per class. The cost of tuition is deducted first, then the cost of any
books. The receipt for books must be submitted to the HSP office for reimbursement.
No supplies are provided.
Students that wish to dual enroll should contact the college’s counseling office for procedures
for the admission process and then provide the CL Homeschool Partnership with the necessary
documents from the college. Once signed by the authorized CL HSP liaison, the parent returns
that form to the college.
Parent Supervision:
Parents are expected to remain at the LADD Center while their child attends classes.
If an adult other than the parent is designated as the responsible adult, please inform the HSP
office and complete the Designated Adult Form.
Building Use
Unless your child has a special need that requires a parent to attend class with them, or the
parent is invited by the instructor to help in the classroom, please enjoy our study room while
your child is in class.
Classrooms not being used for instruction are to remain empty. Parents and students should not
be in a classroom unless a teacher is present.
Parents will remain with their children while eating breakfast and lunch in the LADD Café.
Coats and backpacks can be hung on the shelves and hooks provided in the hallway.
Room 101 is designated as both a study room and instructional area. Please remain on the
appropriate side of the room, remaining quiet so as to respect instruction.
