Are you searching for Family History? Cemetery Records for Alexandrina Council cemeteries are available through the Council office and on the Council website Cemetery Search. Please visit: www.alexandrina.sa.gov.au Cemetery records and Births Deaths & Marriages registers are also held at the Goolwa and Strathalbyn Libraries and are available for you to conduct your own research. Both Goolwa and Strathalbyn Libraries have a fantastic “History Room” which is full of interesting history from the region. Volunteers are available for assistance on Thursdays. General Information

General Cemetery Rules & Regulations The scattering of cremated remains (ashes) with-

in the cemetery grounds is not permitted. No person shall inter cremated remains (ashes)

into the ground without prior consent from Council.

No person shall disturb any funeral service taking place at any grave, whether by working in the area, visiting the cemetery or otherwise.

No plantings on grave sites / memorials shall take place without Council consent.

Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. No person shall take or injure any of the plants,

flowers or shrubs within the cemetery. All rubbish & dead flowers are to be disposed of

in the rubbish bins provided. For further rules and regulations, please refer to Council’s ‘Cemetery and Community Memorials’ Policy.

Burials—Funeral Directors Council requires two full clear working days notice before a burial can take place. Burial arrangements are to be made through a funeral director.

Interments of Ashes Council requires two full working days notice before the interment of ashes can take place. These arrangements can be made directly with Council.

Application Forms Application forms are available on Councils website or at the Council office.

Memorial / Restoration Work No memorial work is allowed to take place on any grave site until Council has first issued a Memorial Licence.
