ABUSEDurability is a top priority in many environments, both to keep people safe and to reduce lifecycle costs for repairs and renovations. Different environments require different levels of abuse resistance. For example, while the school gym might only require protection from a dodgeball game, a hospital corridor might require protection from surface damage caused buy wheelchairs and gurneys.

ACOUSTICSSound control refers to the ability to attenuate or absorb sound passing through a partition floor or ceiling assembly. Depending on the function of the space, acoustical needs can be broken down into sound control between spaces, sound control within a space, and listening efficiency within a space. Performance ratings for sound control allow construction of wall, floor and ceiling assemblies that complement the purpose of the space.

AESTHETICSAppearance can define a space, establish an identity and increase productivity. While the building architecture is the most obvious definitive statement about aesthetics, smaller interior details such as levels of finish, corner treat-ments, and decorative interior finish systems can help make that statement consistent throughout.

FIREBecause a building’s occupants need as much time as possible to evacuate in case of a fire, it is critical to use fire-tested assemblies that comply with regulatory requirements to delay the spread of the fire from one area to another.

MOISTUREMicroscopic mold particles are found everywhere in our environment, but mold cannot grow with out moisture. By controlling moisture, you can prevent the growth of mold in the most cost effective way possible. Although suitable project condition during storage and installation should be the first line of defense in preventing mold, products that are water-resistant can help.

SUSTAINABILITY The green building movement has become more important to building owners and architects alike. Celtic strives in its effort to protect the environment, using industrial by-products and recycled products rather than virgin materials whenever possible.

Tough as Expected. Green as it Gets. GreenGlass® gypsum sheathing features an enhanced gypsum core sand-wiched between naturally mold- and moisture-resistant fiberglass-mat facer. This provides excellent exposure durability for up to 12 months.★ In addition, the unmatched recycled content of GreenGlass can contribute valuable credits to LEED and other green-building system certifications.

Mold and Moisture ResistanceGreenGlass is produced with the TemShield® Mold Protection System engineered into its gypsum core and is faced on both sides with naturally mold-resistant fiberglass mats. It scored a 10, the highest value possible, when tested in accordance with ASTM D3273, the standard test for mold resistance. Its water absorption of less than 10 percent was tested in accordance with ASTM C473.

Note: The ASTM D3273 lab test may not be applicable to the actual performance of building materials. No material may be labeled mold proof, and resistance to mold growth depends on many factors. Prolonged exposure to moisture may cause mold and mildew to grow on any surface. Therefore, in order to maximize the mold and mildew resistance of a material, it is essential that good design, handling and construction practices be implemented. This involves avoiding water exposure during all phases of storage, handling, shipping, installation and after installation is complete. See GA-238 for more information.

Weather Resistive BarrierGreenGlass gypsum sheathing has been shown to resist water penetration when tested in accordance with ASTM E331. Install using rubberized asphalt tapes with a minimum 4" width (MFM Window Wrap, Fortiflash or Protectowrap) to seal all exposed joints and penetrations.

Note: Some local codes for water-resistive barriers require sealing of joints and fasteners with reinforced tape combined with a flexible joint treatment. Refer to your local building code, the weather-resistive barrier manufacturer’s installation instructions, as well as project design specifications.

Building Code ApprovalGreenGlass gypsum sheathing is manufactured to comply with ASTM C1177. As such, it conforms to IRC R702.3 and IBC 2506.2. For the acceptance of gypsum sheathing as structural wall bracing, refer to IRC R602.10.3 and IBC 2506.2. Please consult your local building code.

InstallationGreenGlass should be installed in accordance with ASTM C1280, ASTM C840 and/or GA-253, GA-216.

Fire Resistance of 5⁄8" Type X PanelsGreenGlass fire-resistant gypsum sheathing has been tested in accordance with ASTM E119 and therefore may provide a fire-resistance rating of one or more hours, depending upon the assembly in which it is applied. Please visit our website for a listing of over 140 U.L.-approved assemblies and design details or contact your Temple-Inland representative for details.

Note: Because ASTM procedures require that fire tests be conducted on com-plete building assemblies/systems and not just on the gypsum board itself, the ability of any particular gypsum board to pass a specific ASTM fire test may well depend on factors other than the fire-resistance of the gypsum board being tested. These factors include the other components used to construct the build-ing system being tested, the manner in which the system is constructed and the inherent variability of ASTM fire tests.

Interior performance. Outstanding opportunities.

The demand for green building is growing…and it’s here to stay. GreenGlass® delivers the perfect combination of mold protection and recycled content that’ll satisfy the most demanding project requirements. Engineered with improved fiberglass encapsulation for a smoother surface and improved finishability over traditional glass mat gypsum boards, GreenGlass is also easier to handle and install. It provides the interior performance you expect – with green building benefits that’ll surprise you.

Mold and Moisture ResistanceGreenGlass is ideal for higher moisture areas where paper-faced board is not an option. Produced with the TemShield® Mold Protection System engineered into its gypsum core, GreenGlass is faced on both sides with naturally mold-resistant fiberglass mats. It scored a 10, the highest value possible when tested in accordance with ASTM D3273, the standard test for mold resistance.

This involves avoiding water exposure during all phases of storage, handling, shipping, installa-tion and after installation is complete. See GA-238 for more information.

Fire Resistance of 5⁄8" Type X PanelsGreenGlass gypsum board has been tested in accordance with ASTM E119 and therefore may provide a fire-resistance rating of two or more hours, depending upon the assembly in which it is applied. Please visit our website for a complete list of U.L.-approved assemblies and design details or contact your Temple-Inland representative.

HIGHEST QUALITY& SERVICEOffers the best warranty in thebusiness – a limited 50-year warranty that is transferable toevery new homeowner, with a300-day no-sanding guarantee.*

DescriptionAdvanTech® flooring and sheathing are high performance structuralpanels specifically engineered to provide water resistance, strength, stiffness and consistent quality that is superior to competing orientedstrand board (OSB) and plywood products.

Basic UsesA premium-quality alternative to plywood and OSB, AdvanTech®

flooring is used in single layer and subfloor applications. AdvanTech®

sheathing is used for roof and wall sheathing, as well as subflooringin two-layer systems.

Composition & MaterialsHuber Engineered Woods is committed to the responsible use ofnatural resources. AdvanTech engineered wood panels are producedfrom young, fast-growing trees for less waste and faster availability. All parts of the log are used during production. Leftover chips, bark andsawdust are used as fuel to reduce energy use during manufacturing. One of the main benefits of AdvanTech products is that unlike mostOSB and plywood panels that utilize a phenol-formaldehyde (PF)based resin system, the primary resin system used in AdvanTechpanels contains no formaldehyde.

Certification & Code Compliance AdvanTech flooring and sheathing panels are manufactured inconformance with PS-2, Performance Standard for Wood-BasedStructural-Use Panels. Design capacities of AdvanTech products areavailable in ICC ES ER-1785. AdvanTech panels bear the stamp ofTECO, an approved inspection and testing agency. Panels certifiedto PS-2 and ESR-1785 are recognized in the model building codes, the International Residential Code, and the International BuildingCode. Panels may bear stamps certifying conformance to both PS-2and CAN/ CSA-0325. CSA-0325 is a panel performance standardmaintained by the Canadian Standards Association. For additionalinformation, go to advantechperforms.com.

AdvanTech flooring and sheathing panels, certified to be in con-formance with requirements for U.S. Department of Housing andUrban Development (HUD-FHA) Use of Materials Bulletin #40C,bear the designation HUD-UM-40C within the stamp.

Flame SpreadAdvanTech flooring and sheathing panels are recognized as havinga Class C (III) flame spread rating without need for test or label byHUD/ FHA Manual of Acceptance Practices, Section 405-8 to theMinimum Property Standards.

Storage• Ship panels under tarp.• Set bundles on three supports to keep off the ground.

THE PREMIUM-QUALITY ALTERNATIVE

• Outdoors, cover panels loosely with waterproofprotective material.

• Anchor covers on the top of the stack, but keep away from sides and bottom to ensure good air circulation.

• When high moisture exists, cut banding on the stack to prevent edge damage.

Handling• Avoid dropping panels on corners or edges.• When using a forklift, put the stack on a pallet or supports

to minimize damage from forks.

ExposureAs with all wood-based products, properly installed AdvanTechpanels will not decay in service. Building code provisions establishminimum clearances from grade and ventilation requirementsfor crawl spaces and attics. Short-term exposure to moisture, astypical in normal construction delays, will not result in wood decay.AdvanTech panels should not be used in applications that willpermanently expose the panels to the weather nor where moisturewill be at elevated levels for extended periods of time. AdvanTechpanels are not approved or certified for exterior exposure. As apanel classified as Exposure 1 under PS-2, AdvanTech panels areintended to resist the effects of moisture due to construction delaysor other conditions of similar severity, but are not suitable forpermanent exposure to the weather.

InstallationRefer to TECO (www.tecotested.com) and OSB Design andConstruction Guides for general installation details. Additional in-stallation requirements are in the following sections of this brochure.
