Enrolling NOW for Kindergarten 2016

If you have a child who is turning 5 before 31st July 2016 they are ready to enrol in Kindergarten for 2016. Please note: We will need to sight and take a copy of your child’s original birth certificate, immunisation certificate from Medicare and your proof of address.

Celebration of Learning Parents, Carers, Family and Friends, You are invited to attend our Celebration of Learning presentation for 2015.

Principal’s Report… Good afternoon everybody. We are getting closer and closer to the end of the year and we have lots of activities and celebrations to still take place. Please put our Celebration of Learning and our Preschool Graduation dates into your diary as we would love to see parents, family and friends at these significant events. I would also like to share with you a fantastic website schoolatoz which has many features that can inform and support parents and their children. Access it by googling schoolatoz and please navigate this site as some of its highlights are examples of practise sheets in all curriculum areas and worksheets to support student learning, informative videos, tips for parents and wellbeing information. There is a tab to access various languages too! Which is wonderful… A huge thank you to the parents who came along to our ‘Coffee and Chat’ on Thursday with Cameron and myself. It was wonderful to engage in conversation to receive feedback and contributions centred around our students safety and their learning. This information gives us directions for 2016. Just a reminder please add another date into your diary for our final clinician meeting with Jo next Tuesday 8th December at 9.10am in the Community Room. Ms Bull Relieving Principal

How exciting. ‘A PIRATE PARTY’ at preschool. Drawing treasure maps, making pirate hats, exploring the seven seas in the fantastic boat that Riley and Brodie donated (well done boys and thankyou). Finally, what better way to finish off the day than to enjoy the delicious pirate cupcakes Mrs Cooley helped preschool make with lots and lots of love and sprinkles.

Preschool Graduation On Monday 14th December our Preschool students will be celebrating their 2015 Graduation. Family and friends are invited to attend the Graduation celebrations in our Hall from 10.00am. Students will perform a range of songs and will also receive their graduation certificates followed by a party and fun activities including a visit from someone special. A number of our Preschool students will be attending Kindergarten in 2016 at Ashcroft. We congratulate them on their wonderful time this year at Preschool and look forward to welcoming them to our fantastic school next year.

Student Health Care Plans 2016 If you have a child who currently has an Individual Health Care Plan or Emergency Response Plan for Severe Asthma, Anaphylaxis or a Health Condition that requires support at school. Over the next few weeks we will be sending home a draft copy of your child’s Individual Health Care Plan and Emergency Response Plan to be reviewed and updated. It would be appreciated if these forms are sent back to school as soon as possible.

Look what Preschool have been doing… Preschool have been very busy this term. We all went on a nature walk around our lovely school and gathered lots of treasures for our special collage project.

We have also spent lots of time investigating bugs and insects. Here you can see Mariam and Ajay looking through the magnifying glasses, watching our live crickets and mealworms.

Xavier and Karam are having lots of fun collaborating and showing initiative at our lovely light table.

K-2 Movies

Thursday 10th December all of our Kindy and Stage 1 students will be attending the end of year Fun Day excursion to “Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie” (G).

Stage 2 Bowling and Laser Skirmish

1. Thursday 10th December all of our Stage 2 students will be attending the end of year Fun Day excursion to Bowling and Laser Skirmish. Please remember to wear full school uniform including a school hat and bring your lunch, recess and drinks. We will be leaving school at 9.30am and returning before 3.00pm.

2. Stage 3 Movie Day Monday 7th December all of our Stage 3 students will be attending the end of year Fun Day excursion to “Hotel Transylvania 2 Movie” (PG).

Year 6 Farewell Thursday 10th December Our Year 6 students and teachers will be celebrating the final year of their schooling at Ashcroft Public School before moving onto High School next year. The Year 6 Farewell is being held at Liverpool Catholic Club from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. Students will receive their graduation certificates and enjoy dinner and dancing with their fellow students. Parents and family members are welcome to attend and see their child receive their graduation certificates from 8.30pm.

Diamond Ribbon Morning Tea On Wednesday 2nd December, 86 students were invited to attend the Diamond Ribbon morning tea. This was held as a special thank you to all students who have been safe, respectful learners in the classroom throughout 2015. We celebrated with popcorn, chocolates, chips, cupcakes, pies sausage rolls and many other delicious treats. What a fantastic achievement for so many students in our first year of implementing Positive Behaviour for Learning at Ashcroft Public School. We look forward to having even more students joining us next year!

Our school uniform is required to be worn on a daily basis. Our Uniform Shop is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30am. If you are unable to attend during these times you can pre-order through the Office.

Change of contact details Please remember to notify the office of any recent changes to your contact details including change of address, home telephone and mobile numbers. It is also important to update the contact details of other people nominated as emergency contacts.

2016 Important Planning Information We are starting to plan our classes for 2016. Please let us know if you will be moving or if your child will be changing schools next year. We also need to know if your child will be returning after the start of the school year.
