Willow Class

Pine Class

Last week our topic was

‘Computer Games’. We enjoyed

finding grid references on a

Fortnite map. This week we have

finished the year with a topic

about Summer. The children have

written a range of poetry,

including acrostic poems. There

have been lots of maths

challenges to complete as well.

Well done to Willow Class for all of

their hard work this year. I hope

you all have a super summer!

It is the last week of the year and Pine class have finished with brilliant work. In class, we made some delicious cookies – some actually made it home! We also did an experiment which showed how different liquids form into layers depending on how dense they are. We have been finding out lots of facts about the US and Australia.

We have also been designing adverts to persuade people to come to the US and Australia. Mason has definitely won the sunflower growing competition with a flower that is 24cm tall and has 14 leaves! As well as doing a huge amount of maths work, Jake has also written a great description about koalas. Well done everyone. Finishing the year off brilliantly. Have a great summer!

Acer Class: Transition week!

This week, Acer class have been busy completing their Mini-project relating to their special interests…. and getting ready for Transition.

As part of our final week in Acer class, we reflected on our last year and thought about our new goals for the year ahead.

We have continued adding to our Non-fiction Project book, and in writing, we completed the next page of our information book and also created a Contents page to organise our work. In Maths, we continued learning about percentages (%) and we learnt how to find 5% of an amount. We used what we learnt to help us find 25%, 35%, 75% etc.

In LOTC this week, we had great fun shooting arrows in Archery. Although some of us were a little anxious at first, we all did amazingly well – some even hitting the Bullseye!

As well as this, we decorated biscuits – some of us using symmetry and setting ‘Spot the difference’ challenges.

On top of this, some of us have been busy exploring our natural environment, going out and about and finding 4 leaf clovers – how lucky is that!

Even Ben’s mum has been busy this week writing a poem for Acer class - Well done to you all!

Maple Class

Week 12 has been - Where in the world week. In school we found out first about the Amazon rainforest and the animals that live there. We also made ice cream and took part in LOTC archery. Our next trip was to Japan where we found out about buildings, manga cartoons and how the Japanese language works.

At home James has found out lots about North America as well as Scotland – where some of his family are from.

Iris has had a busy week breaking the Delooze family fishing record catching a 14.5lb Mirror Carp. As well as painting a beautiful water colour baby picture.

Joshua had his first visit back to school – we were all very happy to see him.

Well done Maple Class, you have worked really hard this term in difficult times. I have loved getting to know you and I hope you have a great summer.

PLACE class

Squirrel Class South

This week in PLACE class we have been developing our co-operation and social skills. We have been playing lots of turn taking and co-operative games including hide and seek, Jenga and uno. We have also been working on a class project together where we have made our very own rainbow to decorate our window. Each pupil has contributed to the rainbow, some at the same time and some independently – but we have all been working towards the same goal!

This week we have also celebrated lots of positives. Each pupil in class has earned their merit challenge – that means we will be celebrating with a party on Friday afternoon! Some pupils have even earned certificates for going above and beyond!

This term has been our first term in PLACE class, and it has been super successful. Each pupil should be proud of what they have achieved!

The end of the academic year has arrived and what a crazy time it has been! It feels like a life time ago that all of the Squirrel Class children were together and I cannot wait for September to arrive so that we can all be together and get back to doing what we do best…having fun and doing lots of learning!

We will be welcoming two new children to the class and our first topic back is Superheroes. Have a think about what your super power will be….

Hazel Class

Hazel have really enjoyed learning about

all the different counties this term and they

have very much enjoyed the food tasting

from different counties. There have

been many members of Hazel class that

have been doing work every day over

lock down without fail and I think that is

something that really needs celebrating.

This week they have been learning how to

write exciting adverts and advertising

campaigns which have been lovely to read.

In school this week they have been showing

extremely good teamwork skills and have

been looking after each other in these

tricky times. Well done Hazel.

You have lots to be proud of.

We have looked at the famous landmarks and learnt about the native wildlife. We designed, made and tested our own boomerangs which was lots of fun and we also had a BBQ to celebrate all the fantastic work we have done in Term 6.

Once again we have had daily Games lessons on the field where the activities have ranged from football, rounders and Frisbee flying! The boys have been really successful in developing their skills and have worked really well together. Well done!

Celebration time!

This week celebration time is one for reflecting and celebrating all we have achieved over the past year in squirrels.

We will celebrate that first time we sat down for a story together, the games we played, the pictures we drew, the jokes we told, the smiles we saw, the friends we made , the songs we’ve sang , the bucket times we’ve experienced , the lightsabre fights we’ve had, the horses we’ve rode , the swimming lessons we splashed around in, the trampolining and bouncing we did, the snacks we’ve shared , the teas we made , the biscuits we dunked , the cakes we made…and ate!

We’ll celebrate the year, the terms , the weeks , the days , the hours and the minutes we spent as Squirrel class , and even though the school year didn’t finish how we would have wanted it to, we made some beautiful memories and made it all the way through!

We have all learned and accomplished so much It was never easy, but the best things never are! Thanks for being Awesome Squirrels 😊😊

The Therapy Blog For our last therapy blog of the academic year we would like to

share some memories that have made us smile and express a BIG THANK YOU to some wonderful people who give our students opportunities to participate in activities that give them joy and

achievement! This wonderful piece of artwork showing Springfields appreciation for the NHS service was displayed outside the school! The student of a keyworker suggested we make it! He wanted to say thank you .

We introduced Animal Therapy into our therapeutic offer last term and the impact has been amazing! We will continue with this in September!
