WOW! Thomas – has done some tasty
cooking this! Chocolate is Mrs
Coombes’s favourite thing – you will
enjoy next week’s Padlet which is all
about Chocolate!
Bubble bubble…..goodness, Charlie that
Volcano looks ferocious! Charlie has
been very creative during this week’s
Padlet learning all about Volcanoes. It
looks super messy but lots of fun!
Willow Class
Acer Class
Willow class have been busy learning
about Volcanoes this week. They
have ordered top trump cards based
on the height of the volcanoes,
written acrostic poems, labelled
maps, baked a volcano cake and
created posters all about volcanoes.
They have also enjoyed playing with
the resource packs that were sent
home.
This week, Acer class have been having fun
doing all things scientific! They have been
busy growing bean seeds, taking care of
them and watching them grow. They have
been collecting data by making careful
observations, taking measurements and also
having fun doing lots of other interesting
science experiments.
As well as this, they have been doing some
maths (measuring and learning timetables),
writing bean diaries, doing arty crafty activities
and exploring and taking photographs of our
natural environment. Some have been busy
finding out about where the food we eat
comes from and using atlases and maps to
locate countries from around the World, and
others have been researching and playing
games with their family!
Maple Class
Hazel South Class
This week, Maple class have taken part in
some incredible learning at home. It’s been
a science based Environment week, with
variation between research and practical
activities. Children have made observational
drawings, flower paint printing, taken part in
nature treasure and minibeast hunts, built
bug hotels, photographed nature on daily
walks, made stick mazes, found out about
recycling at home as well as looking after
the planet and much more!
Such a diverse and creative week again Maple
class well done for keeping up all of the hard
work. I’m really looking forward to seeing what
you do next week in our coding/computer
themed week.
Well done and have a lovely weekend
Hazel Class have continued to
work hard this week in their
home learning They have
completed a range of
activities including cooking,
drawing dragons, designing
posters linked to friendships,
exercising in lots of different
ways and developing their
maths skills.
Pine Class
Acer South Class
Pine Class have produced lots of fantastic
work this week. In Maths, we have been
learning about dividing into equal parts and
fractions. In our writing, we have been
innovating our class stories and it already
looks like we have some exciting stories
planned. Ben produced a lovely picture of
the Alien landing. We have been continuing
reading our class book, “How to train your
dragon” and Tom B drew a great picture of
his own dragon. All through this term, we
have been growing sunflower seeds for
science and Jake’s looks like it is growing
much better than Mr Thomas’. In Creative
Arts this term, we have been looking at
people we admire and Jacob has been
researching Colin Furze, a Youtuber who
makes incredible inventions. Finally, Mason
made lovely bunting to celebrate VE Day
This week, Stanley has been
putting measuring, design and
problem solving skills together to
build his own climbing wall!
In Life Skills this week, Acer were
asked to plan a movie day for
their family, taking into account
their family’s likes/dislikes for films
and snacks. Igor’s family watched
Sonic with some popcorn, while
Toby made Biscuits and Alfie
prepared Sunday lunc h for his
family!
This week, a special mention goes
to Alfie, who has been helping to
deliver food parcels to the
vulnerable members of his
community. What an amazing
thing to do, Alfie, we are so proud
of you?!
Beech Class
Oak Class
Palm and Juniper Class
We have had another week of super learning in Beech class, with lots of
Maths, Reading and Writing being completed at home!
Leo has been doing fantastic work with his Maths this week and has been
lots of fraction work, including counting in fractions. Well done Leo!
Logan has also completed Maths learning on Fractions and has been
learning about unit and non-unit fractions. Logan has a good understanding
if this and has demonstrated it in his Maths learning, which is great!
Logan has also been completing some brilliant writing work, where he has
been learning about verbs and how to make verbs more powerful in his
writing.
I would now particularly like to draw attention to Logan’s reading work this
week. In relation to our book this term ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, Logan has
been busy thinking up his own initiation process similarly to what Hiccup is
currently having to complete in the story.
I will rewrite his steps here in case the picture is too small to read properly.
“Step 1: Break into a museum for a ruby and escape.
Step 2: Lift up an elephant to show how strong you are.
Step 3: Run to donate and raise money for the NHS to show kindness.”
All brilliant steps for an initiation, but I was blown away with the kindness and
thoughtfulness of step 3 of Logan’s initiation process. What a superstar!
I would also like to wish Sam a happy birthday this week! I have heard that
he had a great day and lots of fun jumping around on his new pogo stick!
Happy Birthday Sam!
This week in Juniper and Palm class,
some of the pupils learning has
been based on the theme of
Monkey madness! We have been
learning to share equally, write
breaking news reports, and make
good language choices in writing.
We’ve also had some lovely live
classroom meet ups!
Hazel Class
This week Hazel class have been super busy with all their learning. In Maths we have just
started fractions and they have started this topic really well. In English we have started
innovating our class story by changing the class story map. This has been great fun and they
have come up with some amazing ideas for their own stories. I am super excited to see what
their stories will like in the end.
Cae has been really busy making pizzas again. He really enjoyed making them last time so
asked to make them again. He used his measuring skills to make sure he had the right
ingredients. He has also been practicing his first aid skills by doing a primary survey and
putting someone in the recovery position. Cae has been doing some great exercise with his
dad trying is best to keep up!
Owen this week has been really motivated to do his work. He has also been practicing his first
aid doing really well. Owen also decided to make his own lunch this week doing it all on his
own and then cleaning up after himself.
Edmund has been eager to do his work this week and chose to do his work when it was his
play time. Edmund also read me the first bit of his own story which was AMAZING! Edmund
has also been keeping up with Joe Wicks this week.
James has been brilliant this week and has taken part in the drawing challenges proving that
he is a great artist. The pictures he has been drawing are amazing. James flower is pictured
here. James has also been trying really hard with his story, already writing the opening.
Sam, Jamie and Harry have been doing work every day sending me some great Maths,
English and Reading. I was really proud of Harry who didn’t like the story we were reading but
gave it a go anyway. Sam and Jamie have been doing really well are independently doing
their work.
Samuel has been doing lots of gardening this week. Reagan gave some of the maths a go
and Charlie has been reading in the garden!
Well done Hazel class, what a great week!

of course!
Catering
Owen has been working extra hard this week and has made a lemon meringue pie
Leo has produced this amazing research project on the Maillard reaction
Maths
Since Lockdown started 6 students have managed to level-up in Sparx maths; a genuinely incredible
achievement. Sparx rewards hard work and effort so congratulations go to: Alfie C, Corey T-M, Jamie
D, Raife I, Ciaran H and Jayden H. Well done all of you! And well done to all the students who are
continuing to work hard at their maths every single week.
Science
Elm
Ben had produced a wonderful PowerPoint on Edwin Hubble, one of the most important
astronomers in providing evidence for the Big Bang. Thank you Ben!
Elm have been dutifully listening to Miss Ben-Ali’s amateur podcasts and completing the attached
quizzes, and scoring well! This shows excellent listening skills- well done team!
Sycamore
Sycamore have taken on the home learning challenge of beginning their GCSE Science with a suitably
apt topic, Immunity, Infection and Response. Miss Ben- Ali is extremely impressed with the levels of
completed work, and how thoroughly it’s being completed.
Raife has not just taught Miss Ben-Ali about comments on google slides, but has completed
everything asked from him, and completed all work to the best of his ability.
Sophie has produced a wonderful storyboard on how white blood cells defend the body against
invading microbes- Miss Ben-Ali also aspires to have as much stylus control as Sophie, as Miss B is
still writing in some kind of ancient scrawl…
Rowan
Rowan have also been set to task with GCSE work. Their current topic is Quantitative Chemistry, not
one for the faint hearted, but in true Rowan style they rise to the challenge.
Harley has been identifying the chemical nomenclature, relative atomic mass and atomic structure
of the elements in the periodic table. This is a key concept in this particular topic, and he smashed it.
Thank you Harley!
Ralph, a Triple Science student, has had the pleasure of completing double the work for science, and
has done absolutely tremendously on the more in-depth and challenging concepts of science. Ralph
really must be commended for his efforts, which show great problem-solving skills and the fantastic
ability to work independently.
ICT
Aaron has made the Eiffel tower out of cheese as part of his ICT presentation about France
English
Big shout out to Toby who has been smashing his Nessy work this week. Even continuing to work on
it past his set time. Well done Toby!
Humanities
Cody has produced an amazing PowerPoint presentation about the Amazon Rainforest
