Opening Hymn:Abide with Me Audrey Assad

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide The darkness deepens, Lord with me abide When other helpers fail and comforts flee Help of the helpless oh, abide with me…

Swift to its close, ebbs out life’s little day Earth’s joys grow dim its glories pass away Change and decay in all around I see Oh Thou who changest not, abide with me…

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless Ills have no weight and tears no bitterness Where is death’s sting? Where grave, thy victory? I triumph still if Thou abide with me…

Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies Heaven’s morning breaks and earth’s vain shadows flee In life, in death oh Lord, abide with me Abide with me, abide…. with me.

Opening Prayer: Father Martin

Responsorial Psalm: The Lord is My Shepherd

Kevin: My shepherd is the Lord, nothing indeed shall I want.

All: My shepherd is the Lord, nothing indeed shall I want Kevin: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose. Near restful waters he leads me, to revive my drooping spirit.

All: My shepherd is the Lord, nothing indeed shall I want

Kevin: He guides me along the right path; he is true to his name. If I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me comfort.

All: My shepherd is the Lord, nothing indeed shall I want

Kevin: You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes. My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing.

All: My shepherd is the Lord, nothing indeed shall I want

Kevin: Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life. In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.

All: My shepherd is the Lord, nothing indeed shall I want

Gospel Acclamation: John 6:40

Alleluia, alleluia!

This is the will of my Father, says the Lord, that all who believe in the Son will have eternal life and I will raise them to life again on the last day.Alleluia!

A reading from the holy gospel according to John 14:1-6

There are many rooms in my Father’s house

Jesus said to his disciples:“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me.There are many rooms in my Father’s house; If there were not, I should have told you.I am going now to prepare a place for you,And after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me;So that where I am you may be too.You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said: “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God

Homily: Father Martin

Prayers of the Faithful:

Priest: For our sister Mary let us pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, who said: “I am going now to prepare a place for you, and I shall return to take you with me”.

Kaye: Lord, may we always be grateful for the gift of Mary’s life. May we continue to treasure what she treasured – her faith, her strength and the importance of family and friends.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Kaye: For those who cannot be here with us at this very difficult time, especially loving family members, and for all those who have been strengthened by the Christian witness of Mary’s life, let us pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Kaye: Lord, remember Mary’s children, their partners, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. May they keep her in a special place in their hearts, let us pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Kaye: For all those who work among the elderly and dedicate their lives to their service, that they may give witness to the tender mercy of God, let us pray to the Lord.
