UPCOMING COLLECTIONS
August 18/19 Monthly Collection
Online and Envelope Giving—Our parish is blessed with extraordinarily generous parishioners and with a parish staff,
parish council and finance councils who are great stewards of our resources. We encourage you to consider online giving as a
means of contributing to the weekly offertory and/or the Grand Annual collection. This means of giving is convenient for our
parishioners and efficient for the parish. You can set up recurring donations on a weekly or monthly basis. Or you can give on a
non-recurring (single pay) basis. Go to www.stmary-winchester.org and scroll down to the green Online Giving icon at the
bottom of the page. If you receive parish giving envelopes at home but do not use them, please call the Parish Office to let us
know, and we will discontinue the mailing of the envelopes to you. We pay the vendor for the use of weekly envelopes, so this
will save us the cost of the envelopes as well as the mailing. Of course if you prefer cash or check donations or the weekly
envelopes, then it is fine and wonderful for you to continue contributing in this way! We are so very grateful for your
generosity, and we are dedicated to making sure we maximize your donations.
20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus’ teaching about the Bread of Life continues in
today’s Gospel. It is a teaching we need to hear over
and over. “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life.” Jesus is inviting us to receive His body
and blood at Mass in Holy Communion. Savor Jesus’
words as you receive Communion today. Is there
someone you know who isn’t here this week? Pray for
strength to invite that person to come to Mass and Holy
Communion next week.

A Letter from the Principal
Dear St. Mary School Family,
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer filled
with lots of rest and relaxation with your families. We
have been very busy here at St. Mary’s this summer,
making sure our buildings and grounds are updated and
ready for the 2018-2019 school year. We are excited to
show you all the new improvements on Wednesday,
September 5 for students in Kindergarten-Grade 5 and
Monday, September 10 for our PreK and Grade 3 and 4
students. We are also happy to welcome Mrs. Lingqin
Han, our new Mandarin teacher. Mrs. Han speaks
Mandarin fluently and has many years of teaching
experience at the elementary and secondary levels. We
are looking forward to learning more about Chinese
culture and traditions through language study. In
addition to our Mandarin program, we are also very
excited to launch our new Career Infused Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
curriculum in Kindergarten-Grade 5. Students will
participate in STEM labs where they will use their
STEM skills to learn more about related careers. We are
very excited about the upcoming school year, and we
can’t wait to see you on the first day of school.
Your Sister in Christ,
Mrs. Kickham

OUR COMMUNITY
Today’s Reflection
We gather today, as we do every Sunday, around the table
of the Lord. We do so in order to receive Christ, the Bread
of Life. In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “Whoever eats my
flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.”
How does Jesus remain in you? Can others see Christ’s
presence in you in the way that you act? Let us ponder
these questions as we approach the table to receive Christ.
