Hello to all our incredible employees. If this is the first time you are reading the uCONNECT news-letter, welcome newbie!
I want to start off with something I read recently, “Old ways won’t open new doors.” To us here at MPCC this adage speaks of the need for finding innovative solutions and the fostering of a dynam-ic environment at our company.
Our business has well over 1700 employees na-tion-wide who we have the privilege to engage with daily. This means that MPCC has an abun-dance of talent whose fresh perspectives are po-tentially of great value to our company. In the past we have received a number of great solutions that we were able to implement in our business to im-prove certain processes for our Language Consul-tants. With that said, MPCC would like to offer all our staff an opportunity to share their ideas and solutions that they believe could improve their work experience, smooth out processes or build team spirit.

Safety tips that every women should be aware of:
1. Be aware of your surroundings - make it a habit to know what’s going on around you.
2. If walking alone - get off your phone and hold your bag as tightly as you can.
3. Lock the door behind you - make it an absolute rule of thumb that when you get into your car, lock the door immediately.
4. Trust your instincts - trust your gut. If you feel something weird about a situation, get out of it.
5. Scream, yell, command – use your voice! Do not be afraid to let your wishes be known that you do not want to be harmed.

William Butler Yeats once said, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." We, in the Training Department, are 100% committed to serving this purpose of lighting the fire in each and every trainee who walk into our training rooms.
On the weekend of 30 August 12 participants, from all over the country, attended the 1st ever National Trainer Conference hosted in Durban. The main objectives of the event were to strength-en our network of trainers, share best practice and edit and fine-tune the updated Core Training.
The conference kicked off with a welcoming ad-dress by Frans Reuvers at Ncondo Chambers after which the delegates went to MPC4 where they toured the centre. The rest of Friday was dedicat-ed to crafting a clear understanding of the core focus of our department and building camarade-rie in our team.
Saturday started very early, and the participants found themselves teambuilding with the Secret Sunrise team at the beach. The objectives of bonding as a team and breaking down barriers through this activity were achieved through dance, yoga and even some shadowboxing to the amusement of many passers-by. It was a blast!
The rest of the day comprised a gruelling but con-structive regiment of presenting, debating and perfecting the content of our Core Training. The team did an amazing job and proved themselves to be passionate about our tutors and the quality of their instruction. Many cups of coffee were had.
After a bite in Umhlanga Village that evening, and a good night’s rest, the team were at it again early Sunday morning. They finished off the last of the training modules and had some time to talk about the role of training in our company and what we are planning for the future.
It was an overwhelming success due to the posi-tive attitudes of our trainers and their passion for what they do in our company. We, as a national team, look forward to the future and creating op-portunities to grow the people in our company.

At age 12 I started modelling but six years later decided to pursue my studies and focus all my at-tention on getting my degree in education. After completing my tertiary education, I was scouted on Instagram which opened many doors into the modelling world.
I came across the Miss Ushaka pageant on Insta-gram and decided to enter as Ushaka Marine World was looking for someone with strong lead-ership skills and a love for the ocean to be their representative. I aim to become that person.
Time passed and I put the pageant out of my mind. It was clear however that they didn’t forget about me as I was surprised to learn that I had been chosen for the regional round, which was ramp walk, judged on physical appearance, smile, confidence, walk, poise and brand fit to the uShaka Brand. I was in complete shock when I then made it to the interview round which put me into the semi-finals. At this point I was just hon-oured to be part of this competition and being surrounded by all those beautiful, fellow competi-tors.
When the results were announced, I was over-joyed to learn that I had made it to the finals to take place in October. This was a humbling experi-ence as I was chosen to represent Ushaka and KZN. Having made it this far, is a dream come true and I hope to use this platform to inspire other women and girls to reach theirs.

Guurl… Get your Iife! Ain't nobody got time for that. Oh krrrr!!! In this life we have to put in the time hard work, blood and sweat to see our dreams become a reality. Nothing worth achiev-ing comes easy. Find what you truly passionate about and pursue it wholeheartedly. Remember MPC Connect is a great company to put roots in and flex your wings.
