Sunday, October 21, 2018 Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish develops, grows and sustains the Roman Catholic faith by enriching and nourishing the Body of Christ. We strive to fulfill our baptismal call
by being the Hands of Christ in sharing our individual time, talents and treasures to grow as sacramental people.

I grew up in the Oxford Circle section of Northeast Philadelphia in St. Martin of Tours Parish. Two other young
men who entered St. Charles Seminary from the parish were Bill Donner and Ed Adams. Some of you know Fr. Bill
Dooner who was here at Nativity in the late 70s and 80s. You also may know he is my good friend and golfing buddy.
Fr. Ed Adams soon after ordination entered the Diplomatic Corps and is now Archbishop Ed Adams Papal Nuncio for
England, Scotland and Wales. On Monday I’ll travel with Fr. Dooner to visit Archbishop Adams in London, England.
Oh and by the way, the Eagles are playing in Wembley Stadium and we’ll all be there! Pope Francis often speaks about
the fraternity of the priesthood. He emphasizes the importance of having priest friends who support and encourage one
another. I am blessed to have good priest friends (especially one who lives in England)!

Faith Formation
Nativity BVM - Adoration Chapel Chapel Hours: Sunday: 2pm to 11pm Monday-Friday: 7am to 11pm Saturday: Closed
Dear Parishioners: There are still two weeks left in our Rosary Challenge. May I suggest stopping in the Chapel to say your rosary for the Rosary Challenge. As stated in the information explaining the Rosary Challenge “The rosary unites us to Jesus through his mother, Mary.” If you have any questions regarding the Adoration Chapel, I can be reached at [email protected] or by calling the rectory and leaving your name and telephone number. God bless, Carol Farnan
“At times when Christianity itself seemed under threat, its deliverance was attributed to the power of this prayer, and Our Lady of the Rosary was acclaimed as the one whose intercession brought salvation.” – Pope John Paul II
Our parish Book Club will meet Wednesday, November 7th at 7:00pm in the Conference Room. We will be discussing the book “Saint Oscar Romero– Pastor, Prophet, Martyr”. Romero was a Bishop in El Salvador who was murdered while saying Mass. This is a gripping biography of a Christian hero who dared all, risked all and sacrificed all for the sake of love. He was canonized a Saint by Pope Francis on October 14th. Books are available at the Rectory Office for $15.
Access Code: JQGN73
On Friday, November 2nd at the 7pm Mass, we will remember in a very special way all those who have passed away since October 2017. Invitations have been mailed to the next of kin and family members to this special Memorial Mass. If you have not received your invita-tion, please contact the Rectory Office. After Mass, we will hold a reception in the Confer-ence room. Please call the Rectory Office to let us know if your family will be in attendance; this will help with the planning.
Bakers needed: Calling all bakers, baked goods needed for reception following the All Souls Mass on Friday, No-vember 2nd. Drop off at rectory between 9am and 2pmon Friday 11/2. Many thanks! Questions? Contact the Rec-tory Office at 610-566-0185.
Thursday, November 1st is All Saints Day and a Holy Day of Obligation.
Masses will be at 8am, 12:05pm and 7pm.

Social Ministry & Outreach
Education & Youth Ministry Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School This past week, our PK4 children visited Milky Way Farm, our PK3 children had the Brandywine Zoo visit them at school, and our Kindergarteners went to Highland Orchards. It was a busy week for field trips! It is always great to have enough par-ents with the mandated clearances to join the children on these trips. Most of our classes will take one or two trips throughout the school year. The field trips are a great way to enrich the learning experience.
If you are looking for a small school community for your children and your family, Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School may be for you. We offer small class sizes; certified, caring teachers; Chrome books for all students in grades 3-8; iPads for chil-dren in grades PK-2; individualized attention; of course, a faith-based, challenging curriculum. Please do not let finances keep you from applying. We have tuition assistance available for qualifying families. Please visit our website for additional information or call us at 610-876-7110.
Thanks to everyone who helps feed and clothe the homeless men at St. John’s Hospice in Philadelphia.
Casseroles can be dropped off in the freezers in the Priest’s Garage on Church St (behind Brick Building).
They are in great need of jeans and khakis in sizes 30 to 42, (inseam 30 to 34) and new underwear in sizes L, XL, & 2XL.
Now that winter is approaching– they could use warm shoes, new socks and winter jackets.
They are also in need of large toiletries: deodorant, body wash, powder, soap, lotion, shampoo, razors, or mouthwash. Toiletries may be dropped in the bin in the Church vestibule.
Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School is seeking a part-time classroom aide for our PK class. The position is in the mornings Mon-days through Fridays on days when school is in session. Qualified candidates must obtain all state and Archdiocesan clearances. If interested, please send your resume to the school principal, Mrs. Therese Waters at [email protected].
MPRCS is seeking help with our after school CARES (Children Are Receiving Extended Services) program. Responsible adults will moni-tor the children who stay after school until parents or guardians pick them up. The hours are 2:45-5:45 Mondays through Fridays on days that school is in session. We are looking for candidates to work one to five afternoons. Qualified candidates must obtain all state and Archdi-ocesan clearances. If interested, please send your resume to the school principal, Mrs. Therese Waters at [email protected].
