The City of Sandy, in cooperation with SOLVE, is sponsoring a community clean up to celebrate Earth Day. Make a difference by pitching in to clean up local parks and public spaces. Check-in at the Sandy Community Center and sign up for 1/2 hour to 4-hour jobs; choose from easy to challenging. All participants receive refreshments and fun giveaways. Lunch at Canby Senior Center - Mon. 3/16 Depart: 10:30am Return: 2:30pm Cost: $3.00 The Canby Senior Center is a private, non-profit organization serving the population of Canby and the surrounding areas. Canby prepares and cooks their meals onsite. Lunch will be Corn Beef, stewed cabbage, red potatoes, and Guinness cake. Please bring $3.50 as a suggested donation. Dine out at ZigZag Inn - Wed. 3/25 Depart: 5:00pm Return: 9:00pm Cost: $5.00 The historic ZigZag Inn is a family run restaurant that continues to be a favorite among local and visiting friends and families. The inn was build of hand cut logs in the grand northwest architectural style of William Lenz in the late 1920’s. Menu items include appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and Italian food.

Portland Police Museum & Kells Irish Pub Tue. 3/10 Depart: 9:30am Return: 3:00pm Cost: $7.00
The Portland Police Museum is located inside the Department of Justice building. It showcases artifacts related to the city’s law enforcement. Exhibits include early arrest records, historic photos, badge, patch, uniform and firearms collections, and an Old jail cell. Kell’s Irish Pub is a long-standing pub with classic Irish fare with a Northwest twist. Rated as the #1 Irish Restaurant and Pub in the nation. Light walking.
Kumi Buffet & Movies at Clackamas Town Center Mon. 3/30 Depart: 11:00am Return: 6:00pm Cost: $7.00 Relaxed place offering and all-you-can-eat buffet of pan-Asian favorites, sushi and desert. After lunch head to Clackamas Town Center to pick from a list of newly release movies. Monday is Senior Day at the movies. Ticket prices $7.00 Bible Lands Museum & Lunch at Golden Key Mon. 4/27 Depart: 11:00am Return: 2:00pm Cost: $3.00 Enjoy a tour of this local museum which has archeological pieces which highlight some of the events recorded in the Bible. Local Chinese restaurant known for its modern interpretation of classic dishes and its insistence on only using high quality fresh ingredients. Light walking.
Oxbow Park Hike & Lunch at Pleasant Home Saloon - Mon. 3/23 Depart: 9:00am Return: 3:00pm Cost: $5.00 Oxbow Regional Park is a 1,000 acre metro park which offers old-growth forests, gentle trails along the river’s terrace, and views of the majestic Sandy River Gorge. After a nice walk at Oxbow, head over to the Pleasant Home Saloon, a local pub with a variety of options for lunch. Excessive walking.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest & Lunch at Filberts Farmhouse Kitchen - Tues. 4/7 Depart: 9:00am Return: 4:00pm Cost: $11.00 Nothing brightens your day quite like a bouquet of vibrant, fresh flowers and fields of colorful tulips. Place of Birth: LaPlatte, Nebraska
Profession: I was a teller at a bank. I worked at the 1st National Bank in Gresham in the 50’s then started working at Clackamas County Bank in the 70’s, then worked for US Bank in the 80’s. I retired from US Bank in 2010. In between working I raised 4 children. 2 boys and 2 girls.
Most Rewarding job: Raising my kids. I have 8 grand children and 5 great grand children. 6th great grandchild is due in July 2020.
Favorite Book: Anything written by Nora Rob-erts and Danielle Steele.
Hobbies: I enjoy traveling. I travel to various places and visit my daughter in France every few years. I used to bowl in Portland 4 times a week. I played for 15 years.
Best lesson learned as a child: Cooking
Defining moment in your life: When I got married in 1949.
Most embarrassing moment: Driving over a cliff. We can laugh about it because I was ok.
If you could invite anyone (past or present) to dinner who would it be and why? My husband. He owned the service station in Boring near the old Heidi’s from 1970-1989.
Describe yourself in one word: Independent.
What are you grateful for: My health.
Favorite part of the senior center: I came to the senior center in 2010. I enjoy helping out in the dining room, and I also like interacting with all the employees.

MARCH AND APRIL 2020 TRIP REGISTRATION FORM NOTE: Sign up for MARCH AND APRIL trips. Registration forms are accepted by mail or dropped off at the front
desk. At 9:00am on March 2nd and April 1st staff will randomly draw from forms received and begin the registration process.
You may turn in forms for both months, but payment is due for the first month only; however, you may pay for both if you
wish. March trips will be due March 2. ONCE A TRIP FILLS, NAMES WILL BE ADDED TO A WAITLIST AND THOSE
PEOPLE WILL BE NOTIFIED. Please review registration and refund policies prior to registering for any programs or trips.
REFUND POLICY: A full refund is given for cancellations made over 5 days prior to the trip. A 50% refund will be
given for cancellations made on the 4th day prior to the trip. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than 3
days prior to the start of the trip. Full refunds are given for trips cancelled by the Community Services Dept.
