The very first Central European Games Conference will take place in a central geographical location in the heart of Europe, namely in Vienna. Our international guests will enjoy Vienna’s world famous imperial heritage, take delight in musical and cultural attractions, and will experience food and drink traditions.

Vienna is Games

In recent years, Vienna has become a location for game developers. Fields of work for game developers grew during the last years, more game development university programs have been offered and the celebration of games in Vienna finds its climax every year at Game City Vienna with nearly 70.000 visitors.

Vienna as a Business Location

Vienna as a business location is upbeat, high-performing, and internationally attractive.

Its close business ties and proximity to the growth markets of Central and Eastern Europe, its highly qualified employees and industry with high productivity, a research and technology-friendly business environment and a unique quality of life, combined with stable political and economic fundamentals, represent all together bottom-line advantages in a globally competitive marketplace.

Life is good in Vienna

A United Nations report assessed the cities’ economic productivity, quality of life, appropriate infrastructure, distributive justice and ecological sustainability and confirmed that Vienna is the world's most affluent city. Also, Vienna was chosen as the world's number one most livable city, followed by Zurich and Auckland. Vienna was also ranks number one Smart City.

The CEGC 2015 will combine Viennese flair and history with the buzzing interactive entertainment industry.

At a game jam, new and creative video game prototypes are created.

A game jam is similar to a musical jam session. People of different backgrounds (design, technical, arts, audio, ...) get together in small groups to work on new game ideas. Within only 48 hours, they move from the initial concept to a fully working prototype of the game they envision.

Since 2010, the Austria Game Jam has been part of the worldwide Global Game Jam, an event that takes place on a single weekend in 450+ locations in 73 countries all over the world. In 2014, it united more than 23,500 participants in their goal to create new and interesting game ideas.

Over the last years, Austria Game Jam has established itself as a key event in the Austrian video game development community. Only through the constant support of our many partners from the industry, academia, and other stakeholders, it was possible to create this comprehensive space for innovation in digital games.

In 2014, Austria Game Jam celebrated its 5th anniversary, and we are already looking forward to at least another 5 years of game jamming.

THE CONFERENCE CONSPIRACY

It is run by a secret organisation called The Street Game Conspiracy and provides workshops and mentoring programmes for local groups, as well as curating the Play:Vienna Festival each year with over 20 national and international artists who bring urban games to Vienna.

During the conference a secret game will happen. Follow the signs of The Conference Conspiracy to take part. Be warned, everyone and anyone might be a conspirator.

Play:Vienna is Austria’s initiative for bringing games into public and unusual spaces.
