What is a fiesta?

More than the food,

it speaks of the placeMore than the laughter,

it speaks of its land formationMore than the merrymaking,

it speaks of its bodies of waterMore than every preparation,

it speaks of its best assets

But more importantly…

Fiesta speaks of…

The people’s past

The people’s ways of life

But more importantly…

Fiesta speaks of…

The people’s beliefs

The people’s dreams and aspirations

What is Sinulog?

Cebu’s biggest and most popular festival held on the 3rd day of January

A century-old tradition observed in the Visayan region, in honor of the Holy Image of Señor Santo Niño

What is Sinulog?

Symbolizes the Filipinos’ pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity

A nine-day fiesta celebration with two major activities: the religious procession on a Saturday and the grand street parade the following day

What is Sinulog Dance?

The dance is patterned after the water current movement which Cebuano’s refer to as “sulog” of what was known as Cebu’s Pahina River

Characterized by two-forward and one–backward steps, synchronized to the beat of drums and shouts of “Pit Señor! Viva Sto. Niño”

Fiesta and its relevance to us

Fiesta enjoins people in the community during its celebration.

We can celebrate fiesta in a way that we are happy without spending too much.

Fiesta should serve as the uniting force for us humanity.
