Cebu Greetings from Cebu. We are all a
little wet after many continuous days of rain. We look forward to asunnier March although the forecast is for more rain. Keep our members in prayer as many have experienced flooding in their homes.
Furlough
It is now a reality, I am coming on furlough. We have worked hard to be able to bring my wife but the U.S. Embassy has declined her 2 times, so accept that the Lord has closed the door for now.
The plan is that I will leave Cebu on February 6th and arrive in LA at 5:05pm on February 6th. I will be in the states until March 31st when I will fly back and arrive in the Philippines on April 2nd. Confusing, huh? Remember the International Date Line has an effect.
While I am in the states, I hope to speak at different churches, including of course, CC Downey. I would welcome a chance to speak at many ministries as well. During the visits, I will have some medical work done on my left leg, some dental work perhaps and in between all of this I hope to be able to visit my family in Ohio whom I have not seen since 2004 and stop and see family I Oklahoma.
If anyone reading this would like to book me for a speaking engagement, please contact Zully, the mission’s secretary at CC Downey, who will build my schedule, at least for now, so that the calendar does not have conflicts.
I hope to reunite with many of you and hopefully all of you. I am excited to see you all after 4+ years.
Flooding
In the past week we have had steady rain daily, sometimes of January in an hour and a half, we had so much rain that the dirt part of our sanctuary floor was flooded with 6” of rain, the canal in the street was overflowing into the concrete part of the sanctuary and our ihad about 3 inches of rain.
We are happy to report we had no serious damage and the church was usable this past Sunday. The forecast is for rain for at least another month. Pray for our members who have had more damage than us and will suffe
New Feeding Ministry
We are working with the Barangay Captain of Barangay
Apas to start a new feeding ministry near our church.
We are anticipating feeding an additional 300 children
at 1 feeding or splitting them into 3 feedings depending
on space availability. Pray for this new venture.

New Pastor
On Sunday January 23 we ordained a new pastor in our church. Alfredo Y. Bascon, or Gerry as we know him, has been a friend of mine for over 10 years and has worked with me in ministry for almost 3 years. He is one of the Godliest men I have known and his family areTwo other churches have asked him to be a pastor with them but he feels the Lord called him to Shepherds Heart Calvary Chapel. He is and has been for some time, our worship leader, leads our evangelism team, home visitations, teaches our Cebuano service on Wednesday nights, is on our board and is a member of our leadership team. Welcome Pastor Gerry.

Youth Night of Worship (Inter-Youth Fellowship)
We are organizing a new inter-youth fellowship,Youth night of worship, with churches in our local area. We are also building a youth worship group to play for local youth events. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the group we were in before practices and teaches by example, things that we think are detrimental to the growth and development of the youth and contrary to what we teach in our youth ministry. The church will continue to pursue this while I am gone.

Once again, we will have our church wide Valentine’s event. Our theme this year is “Perfect Love”. All members 12 and above attend. We anticipate 70present. The guest speaker is a member and the leader of our biggest home Bible study, Erwin Pinatil, who is an exThere will be games, prizes, photo ops, etc. The evening is being coordinated by our Young Adults Ministry.
