Market share of the ICT sector in Turkey:Growing at a rate of 12.1%, the ICT industry reached a market volume of 69.4 billion Turkish lira (TL) in 2014, with communication technologies accounting for TL 48.9 billion and information technology (IT) for TL 20.5 billion.
IT hardware – TL 10.6 billion
IT software – TL 6.3 billion
IT services – TL 3.6 billion
Expected growth in 2016Industry growth of some 11% to 15% is expected for 2016, driven by R&D investment and innovation. Companies in the industry believe that public procurement will have a major positive impact on growth in 2016.
Exports are approaching TL 1.5 billion, with the key trading partner being Azerbaijan, followed by Germany, Turkmenistan, the US, The Netherlands and the UK. Increasing by some 2,500 people, the industry employed about 103,000 this year.
Increase of innovation and R&D
According to recent data, the software and hardware categories grew at a rate of 12.3%. The software industry accounted for 30% of the entire information technology sector. The communication technologies sector with a market volume of TL 48.9 billion in 2014 is composed as follows:
