Connecting Students to International Higher EducationBecause education shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all, we’ve developed a robust catalog of diverse study abroad program options to better meet the needs of today’s universities and their students. Our Global Education Network comprises three well-defined learning environments, each contributing distinct advantages that together offer college students greater depth of choice in study abroad programming and services.

Global Alliance in Prague

European Tradition, U.S. Standards The Global Alliance model allows American students to seamlessly integrate into an international learning environment, while aligning their studies with the academic needs and structures of their home universities. CEA Global Education is proud to name Anglo-American University (AAU) in Prague, Czech Republic, as its first Global Alliance partner. AAU’s mission is to make the highest values of Anglo-American education and the best of Central European traditions accessible to students from all parts of the world. AAU’s breadth of curriculum, instruction in English, interactive classes and integration of students from around the world in the same classroom help make AAU the ideal choice for the more serious study abroad student.

Global Campus

Our signature, purpose-built learning environment is designed to engage students directly in the local culture.

Global AllianceThis new model of international higher learning reflects academic integration and collaboration with an international institution rooted in academic integrity.

The Global PartnersWe strategically choose these local institutions of higher learning to provide complementary, culturally immersive programs through direct enrollment with a local and/or international student body.

In the middle of this gem of a Central European capitol is CEA’s Global Alliance program and our partner, Anglo-American University. Here you’ll find not only Czech students (about 1/3 of the student population) but also students from more than 50 countries worldwide, all studying in English according to American and British models of education. A course in political philosophy, psychology, or management can take on new dimensions when the student to the left of you is Czech; to right, Italian; in front of you, a student from Kazakhstan; and behind you, a student from Colorado. This sort of cosmopolitan environment is a far cry from the closed, homogeneous society of a previous era, and CEA’s Global Alliance program in Prague puts students at the center of it as active participants in a changing world.

Unique Academic Environment Explore the city of Prague while studying art and architecture spanning more than 10 centuries, from the styles of Romanesque through the various stages of

Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and into the 20th century (including art nouveau, Czech cubism and socialist realism). Students will explore first-hand Prague’s Castle and many of the city’s glorious churches and monuments as examples of Europe’s most important architectural styles. Through a combination of lectures and excursions into the city, including numerous museums and galleries, the aim of the course is to have students develop an understanding of art and architecture in Prague as products not only of individual artists, but also of the larger cultural influences of their age.

CEA Leadership in Prague

CEA’s Connections to the CityAs a part of the CEA Global Alliance semester curriculum in Prague, students take a site- or region-based course as a part of their studies. Site visits, fieldwork, and student projects in these courses take students out of the classroom and into the city beyond the university’s walls. Examples of these courses include Czech Language & Literature, UNESCO Sites of the Czech Republic, Jewish Experience in Central Europe, and Politics of the EU. Through guest lecturers, class visits to significant Prague landmarks, followed by on-site discussion

and analysis of class lessons, students are able to incorporate first-hand observations with their course objectives, taking away a deeper understanding of their cultural experience.
