Bag loading or unloading machines have to be usedto achieve acceptable throughputs and limit thephysical strain on the personnel wherever bulk ma-terials in bags are loaded or unloaded as individualunits.
During their many years of use Möllers bag loadershave been developed to a high level of perform-ance and reliability. The machines fulfil exactingdemands on manoeuvrability and smooth adjust-ment, and have been extended to form a rangewhich can cope with every situation.
The autoloader is a further refinement of the bagloader. It is an automatic loading system which reduces the personnel requirement for the loadingprocess to virtually zero. Möllers bag loaders formpart of the comprehensive conveying, filling, pallet-izing, packaging and loading technology for whichMöllers has been famous throughout the world formany years as a first-class supplier of equipment to the industries which produce bagged products.

Möllers bag loaders for this application are designed as single-pivot systems (ET model) anddouble-pivot systems (GT and GTL models). The ET machines can be advanced until the boomreaches the longitudinal axis of the wagon; fromthis position the pivoting telescopic loading beltcan reach the load floors of normal wagons as faras the end walls. With double-pivot machines forloading the large wagons (GT and GTL models) theboom for the intermediate belt can also be pivoted.
Distributing the bend over two pivot points givesthe machine a greater reach and also results insmaller transfer angles which contribute to smoothtransport of the bags.
Centralized operation of all the movement func-tions from the loading head means that the ma-chines can be manoeuvred reliably and swiftly toany loading point in the wagon. Under restrictedspace conditions it is also possible to use double-pivot systems in an arrangement parallel to theplatform.
Covered railway wagons of normal design can onlybe loaded through the relatively narrow side doors.Bag loaders for wagon loading must therefore bedesigned so that they can be inserted through thedoor openings and pivoted towards the end walls.

Smooth loading operation, higher loading capacityand increased productivity can be achieved by theuse of platform carriages when loading rows of wagons. This dispenses with the time-consuming,labour-intensive, winching of the wagons to theloading position; the loader travels along the rowof wagons.
Wagon loaders on platformcarriages
Systems of this type consist of Möllers ET, GT andGTL bag loaders combined with appropriate plat-form carriages. The material to be loaded is suppliedby a fixed conveyor belt system parallel to the plat-form and transferred to the loader by a deflectorstation travelling with the platform carriage. Largeloading systems with several loaders on platformcarriages can be supplied by a common feed beltwith remote-controlled deflector stations.

Off-the-floor truck loaders
Travelling truck loaders
Bag loaders of the off-the-floor type are used for efficient rear loading of ve-hicles in covered loading lanes. Möllers bag loaders for this type of operationare built in two basic designs. The LH model leads the material to be loaded down to the load floor on a vertically adjustable loading belt, and is intendedfor loading open vehicles. This can be designed for any length of travel – thereis no limit to the length of vehicle which can be loaded.
With the LHP model of rear loader it is also possible to load covered vehicles.
The Möllers HT bag loader designed for this purposecarries the telescopic belt on a belt carriage withboom of appropriate length, and can therefore be used for rear loading of both open and closedvehicles.
Travelling loaders with high belt carriages are madefor loading vehicles from floor level.
In addition to stationary systems it is also possibleto use travelling bag loaders with normal or teles-copic loading belts at loading platforms for load-ing trucks over the side or rear of the vehicle. The LTF model, with telescopic loading belt andshort belt carriage with motorized travel, is usedfor side loading. Vehicles with permanent super-structures – as with containers – can often only be loaded from the rear. The loading belt must beinserted deep into the vehicle.

Stationary bag loaders as well as travelling loadersare used for side and rear loading of vehicles. Thedesign features of these machines are the pivotingrunning frame containing the loading belt with fixed axle spacing and motorized travel.
Stationary truckloaders
For side loading of trucks there are also the MöllersLT bag loaders. In this model the Möllers standardtelescopic belt is mounted on a pedestal by meansof a ball bearing slewing rim and, with its electro-mechanical height adjustment and motorized telescopic extension, forms a flexible and easilyoperated unit.
With the appropriate configuration the LT loadingbelt can also be used for semi-mechanical pallet-izing of fairly small quantities of bags.
– 10 –
LV
LTLonger extensions than can be achieved with thestandard telescopic loading belt models are provid-ed by the Möllers three-piece double telescopicbelt.
This telescopic design can also be incorporated inother models of the Möllers bag loader instead ofthe standard telescopic belt.

The Möllers double telescopic loading belt is, likethe Möllers standard telescopic loading belt, mount-ed so that it can pivot freely on a ball bearing slewing rim and is provided with electromechanicalheight adjustment and telescopic loading head. However, it has a substantially greater extensionand therefore greater reach because of its doubletelescopic system.

Ship loading systemsMöllers travelling or stationary ship loading systemsfor handling bags in inland and maritime ports arebuilt from standard subassemblies as tailor-madestructures to suit local conditions.
– 12 –
The manual unloading of bags, where loads have tobe picked up at frequent intervals with a bent body,is – even more than with loading – an extremelyheavy and rapidly tiring activity with a correspond-ingly low throughput. Möllers therefore providesbag unloading machines for efficient unloading ofbags from wagons, trucks and containers.

Fully automatic – directly onto thevehicle: Möllers autoloaders
– 14 –
Möllers autoloaders carry out the vehicle loadingcycle with a pre-selected number of stacks and layers completely unattended; they utilize the care-ful positioning and placing technology typical ofMöllers machines to produce accurately stacked,transport-proof loads.
Exceptionally flexible despatch operation can beachieved with Möllers autoloaders. The machinescan stack the bagged product directly on the vehicle load surface as well as on pallets placed inthe vehicle. It is also possible to load pallets sup-plied to a fixed position. An advantage of theMöllers autoloader which is typical of the design is that interlocking bag stacks of the same width

as the vehicle can be formed and stacking patternsother than the ten-layer one can be used. The factthat truck-trailer combinations can be fully loadedwithout uncoupling the trailer contributes substan-tially to the high efficiency of the system.
The loading process takes place fully automatically fromthe first to the last bag.
1st line of the three crosswise bags is dis-placed outwards to the right by the lateral dis-placement unit without any impact pressure.2nd line of lengthwise bags runs into place.
3rd bag line runs into place after the bags have been turned through 90°at the turning post.
3rd bag line is displaced outwards to the left by the lower displacement unit without any impact pressure.4th bag line of lengthwise bags runs into place.
Complete bag layer is sized on four sides.
Complete bag layer is trans-ferred carefully to the inclinedconveyor for stacking on thetruck.
Using the functional sequencesalready proven many thousandtimes over in Möllers automaticpalletizers the stack layers arealigned and placed carefully onthe vehicle with accurate con-tours making full use of thewidth of the load floor.

Silo systems and bulk loading plants
The packaging, loading and despatch of bulk mate-rials starts in the bulk store, which in the moderncement industry takes the form of a large silo.Möllers has also proved to be an excellent supplierin this field and produces complete silo systems inall sizes with different filling and extraction systems. The filling plants and bulk loading stations, whichload the product into bulk vehicles, are often inte-grated into the silo structure.
Möllers bulk loading terminals for loading trucksand wagons work without any operating personnelby using an efficient self-service technology.
Bulk packaging units, which with appropriate marke-ting structure can form a more economic alternative, have appeared alongside the classical bagging sys-tems in many branches of industry which producebulk materials.
For filling these packaging units, such as BigBags,Möllers supplies filling stations including the emptypallet magazines and associated pallet conveyors.
