Case Study: Hammarby Sjöstad, Stockholm

The South Side will need new waste-water infrastructure. We propose that this infrastructure can stimulate an environmental industry by not only managing wastewater but also turning waste into fuel (biofuel). In Stockholm, Sweden, a new community developed along the Hammerby channel, collected its waste-water and used it for heating, cooking gas and gas for transport. This, like the last example, shows how you can harness natural processes or eco-cycles to reduce costs and build the environmental image of the city.
