VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers are what make our shows run so well. We are always in need of helpful people to do various
jobs at our shows. Examples of positions are: scribe, runner, warm-up arena steward, scoring and office
help. Volunteers receive a Starbucks gift card or TEV Bucks for their service. TEV Bucks may be used
for prizes or toward the office fees on a show entry.
The scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers
may not be counted toward na-
tional awards.

Introductory classes are open to all Horses and Riders regardless of membership status, without having to pay non-member fees. Horses entered in these classes are subject to and must comply with the Drug
& Medications rule and are subject to drug testing. Horses may cross enter into recognized divisions
whereupon they are subject to membership requirements.

TEV BUCKS You can pick up your prize for First Place OR save your Bucks! There will be special prizes offered that can be won by collect-
ing points for all ribbon winners. Prizes will be added to throughout the year for more selection. Here’s how it works.
First through 5th place in every class is worth “Bucks: 1st = 10, 2nd = 6, 3rd =4, 4th = 2, 5th = 1. “Bucks” are transferable – you can give them to a friend, but not replaceable – you lose them,
like cash, they are gone. “Bucks” may be redeemed at any TEV rated show during the show year.
“Bucks” may be redeemed for prizes or used towards Office Fees (only) on your entries.
Class Minimum
If you enter only one class for the show, you will be charged a fee of $25 for each day of schooling.
Stabled horses only – haul-ins exempt.

High Point Qualifications for All levels – Intro through Grand Prix – Traditional and Western:
Points earned: First place = 5 points, Second place = 3 points, Third place = 1 point regard-less of number of
entries in class.
Minimum classes to be ridden – Intro through Third Level = 3; Fourth level and above = 2
One class must be the high test of the level.
Two tests per day/show will count. The highest two scores to be used.
Qualifying period – October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017
Be a TEV chapter sponsor
OR Volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per horse/rider combo. Volunteer hours may be assigned to
horse/rider combo of choice in Rated or Schooling show. Volunteer hours may be earned by
1.) Working at any TEV show (rated or schooling (Show set-up and tear-down worth double
hours!), 2.) Volunteering at the RAAC/SD Chapter Summer show, August 10-12, 2018
3.) Serving on a committee, 4.) Helping with a TEV educational event
OR pay a nomination fee per horse/rider combo in current year. Nomination fees count either
for Rated shows OR Schooling shows. To be eligible for both circuits, two nomination fees
per horse/rider combo in current year is due.
TEV chapter member $25, non TEV chapter member $35.
RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION
1. EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT
USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.
2. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the show management whose decision shall be f inal.
3. Every horse entered for competition will comply with the rules of the horse show management, but management will, in no case,
be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold this horse show
and the officials and employees of the show blameless for any loss or accident to his horse, employees, equipment, which may occur
from sickness, fire or otherwise.
4. The management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors,
prohibit entries and cancel award prizes without claims for damages; to cancel or combine unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes
after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges.
5. Exhibitors are notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judges or officials, on the part of the owner, manager,
rider, or groom shall disqualify the horse, and the owner shall forfeit his entry fee and other fees.
6. Show management reserves to itself the power to prohibit any person from attending or showing a horse in the ring and to remove
any groom or horse from the show without being liable for compensation.
7. In accordance with the 1989 Federal Waste Tracking Act, which restricts the disposal of medical waste, bio-hazardous medical
waste containers will be provided. All exhibitors and their agents are responsible for the proper disposal of this waste.
8. No person will be allowed in the show ring during the time of judging except the exhibitor and those having official or requested
duties to perform.
9. It is the tradition of the show that riders be correctly attired for the class in question, that attendants be neatly dres sed and the
horses properly presented. Management may in its discretion bar any person from entering the ring if not suitable presented to ap-
pear before an audience.
10. Active CDS Members shall be eligible to participate, A non-member may participate as a rider, owner, lessee, agent, or
trainer upon payment of a $15 CDS non-member fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the require-
ments of this rule: USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux, quadrille and Opportunity classes
11. ENTRY PROCEDURE: Entries must be made on an official entry form or photocopy of same and must be filled out com-
pletely, including all classes entered, all signatures, (no dittos), organization membership numbers and fees. Please include a photo-
copy of current membership ID for rider, owner, and trainer. Amateur must provide a copy of their Amateur card or proof of appli-
cation for an Amateur card. An Internet search will be done for entries missing any of the required membership photocopies at a
charge of $20. Entries are accepted on a first-come, first served basis until classes are filled. Entries received after the closing date
will be accepted only if the schedule permits. Each late entry that has been accepted shall be assessed a late fee of $50. Changes to
entries ($25 fee) after the closing date will be at the sole discretion of the show management. No telephone entries will be accepted.
Complete entry with check or credit card information must be mailed by closing date or a complete entry (with card copies and
credit card payment) may be faxed. Payment in full or an open check or credit card information must accompany the entry.
12. AMATEURS AND JUNIORS: Amateurs are defined by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book. All rid-
ers entering the Amateur classes must possess or have applied for an USEF Amateur Card prior to riding in the class . All riders in
Amateur Divisions must present an USEF Amateur Card when picking up their numbers or they will not be allowed to show
in the Amateur Division. Cards may be applied for at the show office. Individuals are eligible as Juniors until the end of the calen-
dar year in which they will be 18 years of age. Individuals are eligible as Young Riders from the beginning of the calendar year
in which they reach the age of 16 years and until the end of the calendar year in which they reach 21 years of age. Competitors will
compete as Adults from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 22. Individuals possessing current amateur
certification are only eligible as Adult Amateurs from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach age 22.
13. REFUNDS: All fees, less a $30 administrative fee, will be returned if horses are scratched before the Closing Date. THERE
ARE NO REFUNDS OF CLASS FEES OR STALL/TACK ROOM FEES FOR ANY REASON AFTER THE CLOSING DATE.
Exception: Stall/Tack room fees will be returned if scratched by 6:00PM Friday one week before start of the show.

14. RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason are regarded as a most serious offense and will be han-
dled according to the following procedure: A 10% penalty (minimum $25.00) will be assessed for each returned check. Credit ca rds
that do not go through will incur a penalty of at least $10 for each occurrence.
15. ARENA: Show arena is 20 X 60 meters. Footing consists of sand mixed with dirt. Only those horses registered with the show
management are permitted use of the show facilities, warm-up arena and show arena. All horses in the warm-up arena must wear
their competition numbers. Lunging is allowed in specific areas only and upon receiving permission of the ring steward.
16. STABLING, GROUNDS FEE: Permanent stalls, MD Barns construction, 12’x12’ with sliding doors. Stalls, and grooming
stalls and tack stalls $130 (Friday thru Sunday). If you need to arrive before Friday, or stay longer than Sunday, you must call and
make arrangements (760) 728-6325. Tractor Supply Co. and Big Horse Feed are nearby for bedding and feed shopping. Grounds
fee per show day of $30 applies if not stabled. SHAVINGS may be ordered through office NO LATER than Thursday before show.
17. RV PARKING: In stable area. No hook ups. $35/night.
18. SHOW STATUS: In the event of inclement weather, natural or other disasters prior to the show, it is the competitor’s responsi-
bility to contact management as to the show status. Please call (858) 519-2217.
19. DOGS: Dogs must be on a leash. All animals should be managed so as to not disturb the competitors.
20. SCORED TEST: Tests will be distributed to riders, or their authorized representative, after the results have been finalized and
awards presented. Scores will be posted when available.
21. STALLIONS: Stallions must be in a stall or remain in the trailer unless being managed by a qualified person.
22. SCHOOLING HORSES: Horses not entered in the show must be registered with the Horse Show office and will be given a
number to be worn at all times when not in a stall or tied to a trailer. Appropriate stall or grounds fees, drug fees and a $25.00 per
day fee must be paid. Any person(s) riding a schooling horse must have signed an official entry blank. A schooling horse may be
allowed in the warm-up arena at the discretion of the ring steward.
23. RIDE TIMES: Times will be emailed, and will be posted at TEV-CDS.com. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to contact show
management if times are not received. Failure to enter the arena at the specified time may incur elimination.
24. HEADGEAR RULE: From the time horses are officially admitted to the competition grounds by competition management,
anyone mounted on a horse at any time on the competition grounds including non-competing riders, riders on non-competing horses,
and those competing in all classes and tests, including Para-Equestrian tests must wear protective headgear as defined by this rule
and otherwise in compliance with GR801. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further
riding until such headgear is properly in place. Protective headgear is defined as a riding helmet which meets or exceeds ASTM
(American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag.
The harness must be secured and properly fitted.

25. GOLF CARTS: and all other motorized vehicles require a valid driver’s license to operate. Wheelchairs, etc., for people with
disabilities are exempt. USEF rule GR1301.7
“Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a
motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but
not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Mi-
nors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an
adult with a valid driver's license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer
(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s),
and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of th e above
individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are
exempt from this rule.”
