I am Siu-Imm Tpy of Uancouuer, Canada. I attend Handsworth Secondary School(high school). I am in Grade 8, ny Social Studies teacher, Mr. Kapusta has assigned us the project of writing to you to learn more about your theory.
I am presently doing a Social Studies unit on the Renaissance which also concerns early exploration and hou the early explorers discovered the New World which led to the belief that the earth is round. I don't know quite what to believe,for example, supposing the earth is flat, how come ships don't fall off when they reach the edge? How come people travelling in aeroplanes flying near the edge never see the edge of the eart^ even from such a great height ? How would you account for the changes of seasons in certain parts of the world and no changes in other parts of the world/?I really wonder if the earth is round or flat?
I quote from an article found in the Vancouver Sun newspaper on November the sixth,1981 as said__by Charles Johnson, President of the Flat Earth Society in America:" the earth is enclosed within infinite frozen water and outer darkness."[^y only question is, how did you come to this conclusion? Can you confirm this statement?

I'm writing this letter to The Flat Earth Society because my current studies in Social Studies are on the Renaissance and early explorers sailing t o the e New World. I'm doing research on The Flat lety as a project for mySocial Studiea. The early explorers sailing and exploring believed that the earthl’-was round and many people at our stage of life also believe that the earl is round ,I read aoout your society in "The Vancouver Sun,"which is our local paper
^n, November,6,1981, which really got me interested in your society. There is. a quotation in the artic I© which said "The earth ..was enclosed within -infinite frozen water and outer darlmess." This quotation made me really think if the earth is flat or round. From that day on I've been wondering more than ever in my life if the earth is really flat or round. Because of these reasons I was 'wondering if I could have some more detailsabout your society and about your F.E.S. theory.

Dear Sir,I am Craig Maddess. .Hsage is 13 and I go to Handsworth Secondary School
(High School). In this school I am in grades and this letter is from my social studies classes. This is a project with which I am interested in.
In this class the students are learning about the Renaissance.We have lea-rn-ed that this period (1300-1600 AD)was a re-birth of knowledge and that sailors and explorers were going away from Europe.
Also that explorers were going away from the old theory that the Earth was flat and this was why there was so much discovery.
In one of the daily local papers (The Vancouver Sun) an article appeared about The Flat Earth Society on the date of Fri.,Nov.6. Where a reporter was interviewing a Mr.Johnson(Charles) who said that the Earth was enclose- ed within "infinite frozen water and outer darkness."
Why is this Society, Sir, belgiving in this absurdness and why can't you believe in the loniverse theory. Have you not ever looked through a telescope at night and seen the beautiful stars, what are these "stars"^Sir?
