SUPPORTING DEAF PEOPLE PROJECT update Oct

2010The Project has again been busy during the summer seasonproviding our service to D/deaf people across the county. Just areminder that we work with D/deaf, hard of hearing, deafened,deaf/blind people living in Cambridgeshire and we aim to ensurethat people are enabled to live as independently as possible. Wecan help with things like dealing with day to day issues, budgeting, help with correspondence, developing social skills etc. One of theworkers is usually available at the drop in sessions across theCounty. Please contact us if you would like to make a referral.

We have organised two social events for the D/deaf community which havebeen very successful and well received. In such a rural County ofCambridgeshire it is good to be able to offer these events to bring D/deafpeople together to socialise in their preferred language. We are planning moreevents in the near future.

unfortunately we missed promotion to Division 3 by onepoint!! Not a bad start for over 60s league. I also playedin a different league as I played for Papworth B team whichis in 4th Division. We have an A team which is in 1st

Division. They finished half way in the league and I amvery happy to say that my B team won promotion toDivision 3 We were runners up to Eynesbury who finishedas champions. I hope we can continue to improve next year. Angela (my wife)still plays for the Papworth Ladies team in Division Two and they finished third, just missed promotion by few points. Now that outdoor bowls is closed for the

winter and we started playing indoor bowl in Huntingdon. Good news for us as Ihave two new members who have joined the club.
