The Age of Non-Secrets

We have seen a resurgence in traditional media usage in the past year which we can directly trace to

the explosion of hacking and security breaches on computers and networks in government and indus-

try. If sensitive information is only contained, for example, on a CD-R disc, then this can be transferred

personally to an end-user. That end-user can consume the information and, when it is no longer nec-

essary, can completely destroy the digital data content.

It seems at times recently that there are no more secrets and those who are charged with safe-

guarding our secrets are incapable of this responsibility. It also seems that many who have sworn an

oath to safeguard sensitive and classified information believe that they have an inherent right to reveal

this information and justify it as some distorted form of civic duty. From Snowden at NSA to Wikileaks’

release of Vault 7 and other materials allegedly stolen from the CIA by another contractor, to charges

and counter-charges that official Russia is responsible for attempting to influence the elections of the

United States., we are experiencing an unprecedented explosion of highly damaging unauthorized

release of information. Indeed, we might call the time we live in as an age of non-secrets.

CD ROM, Inc. for many years now has been developing tools to protect information. Many of our du-

plication products have no hard drives which permits a very high level of security when copying sensi-

tive information either on optical discs or other hard drives. Many of our products are vetted by DoD

and others against the most stringent standards available confirming when digital information is no

longer retrievable with any known technology. At the other end of the continuum, for the past several

years, we have been introducing forensic recovery tools and services which provide unmatched ability

to recover information from virtually any form of storage media. See for example in this catalog the

CRI Forensic 121.

If and when it were no longer possible to have secret information, governments would fail. They would

fail after business interests fail. Trademarks and patents would become obsolete. This unlikely future

would be heralded by individual people who could neither honor an oath nor keep a secret.

At the core of our competency is a fundamental understanding of the full-circle life and death of a digi-

tal signal. And we know both how to honor an oath and to protect corporate and government secrets.

The SRW-33m offers high-performance computing in a diminutive footprint. Powered by the Intel Skylake Core i5-6300U processor, the SRW-33m is well-suited for a wide range of complex computing tasks. The U series Skylake processors find the right balance be-tween performance and power efficiency with a processor speed of 2.4GHz and a power draw of only 15 watts. Along with the Skylake generation of processors comes support for DDR4 memory which allows for higher speeds, bandwidths, and power efficiency over DDR3. The SRW-33m also is available with optional 4G LTE con-nectivity, enabling remote network access or failover protection.

Rugged Reliability

The SRW-33m's fanless, ventless, and cableless design provides protection from dirt, dust, and vibration, allowing for reliable opera-tion in even the most challenging environments. In addition, the SRW-33m utilizes wide temperature components which contribute to its impressive operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C. All this makes the SRW-33m an extremely versatile and reliable com-puter in virtually any installation condition. The SRW-33m comes equipped with an impressive I/O complement given its size. The I/O coastline includes six USB ports (four 3.0 ports, two 2.0 ports) and six RS-232/422/485 COM ports to meet any of your industrial peripheral needs. The SRW-33m has 2 Gb Ethernet ports and, if you need to go wireless, there are four anten-na ports and 2 full-sized Mini PCIe sockets for wireless or other I/O expansion including optional 4G LTE connectivity. Additional I/O includes a DVI-I port and a DisplayPort connector providing for dual-HD display capability. The SRW-33m also accommodates expan-sion via unique CMI module technology. Blu-ray technology has led to the creation of high-capacity storage discs that provide up to five times the storage of standard recordable DVDs. Blu-ray discs use blue laser light with a wavelength of 405nm, shorter than the 650 nm used by red laser light for DVDs. The shorter wavelength means it is possible to write smaller data pits, vastly expand-ing the amount of data that can be stored on a disc. We’ve come a long way since the first 650MB optical discs!
