MY INITIAL IDEA

My initial idea was to have a very dark CD cover. I wanted to use the symbolism that flowers create. I thought we could use either a bouquet of burning flowers or a bouquet of dead flowers as f lowers symbolise happiness and perfection, but having burning f lowers could symbolise the destruction of happiness or the dead flowers could symbolise how the ‘perfect world’ doesn’t exist and the idea and stereotype of perfection is dead. Examples of the types of burning flowers can be found below:

So my idea was to use burning flowers and have our lead singer (George/Yiorgos Makridakis) holding the bouquet looking towards the camera with his head slightly forward, eyes looking directly at the camera with a small smile on his face. My idea for this was that the band are the reason for the destruction of the perfect world. I thought that the use of shadow could be an important element as I was only planning on using dim side l ighting to l ight his face, creating shadow across his face to give him a more mysterious and intense look. I would dress him in the suit he wil l be wearing in the music video. Examples of the use of shadow are shown below:

VARIATIONS OF MY IDEA

Other variations I considered is using a bouquet of red roses as red is symbolic of love and passion, a contrast of what the couple in our music video have. I was also considering having either our lead singer alone with a black background and his face l i t in his suit or using the entire band with the lead singer at the front holding the bouquet and having the other band members stood behind him at different distances in different stances, also covered in shadow.
