CAFDIRECT LAUNCHES COSTA RICA SINGLE ORIGIN COFFEE:
100% Strictly High Grown beans exclusively from
the Tarrazu Mountains for a distinctive, premium quality coffee
High in the mountains of the Tarrazu region in Costa Rica lies the Llano Bonito
Cooperative, where smallholder growers tend their small plots of land with their
families, nurturing and hand-picking the ripest coffee cherries to go into Cafdirects
new Costa Rica coffee.
Created to appeal to coffee lovers looking for a new level of sophistication in their
morning cup. The Arabica beans are grown in the rich, volcanic soils of the region

Thierry Akroman, Quality Manager at Cafdirect, explains, By growing the beans at
altitudes up to 2000 metres, they mature very slowly which brings out the coffees
unique characteristics, an exceptional aroma, perfectly balanced body and prized
high acidity. Strictly high grownbeans, also known as strictly hard beanfor their
unique density are the highest grade in the industry. This new single origin is a

Cafdirect sources coffee directly from smallholder growers who work in harmony with the local

smallholders often farm in remote communities and are the least able to realise the benefits of their
harvest. Their livelihoods are also extremely vulnerable to risks such as climate change.
To date, Cafdirect has invested the equivalent of the more than 50% of its profits back into grower
programmes designed to increase skills, improve quality, protect the environment and buildcommunities for the producer partners who produce the raw ingredients for it award-winning range
