Solaris speed dome cameras – reliable and accurate
Versatile security with optimum performanceWhatever the application, whether indoor or out, the Solaris range of high-speed dome cameras provides the answer. From town and city centres to airports, retail complexes, commercial buildings and motorways, Solaris combines high precision and speed of operation with reliability and excellent clarity of image. The range includes a new high-speed dome housing a 36x optical zoom day/night camera with extended dynamic range, which is particularly sensitive to extremely low light conditions. This ensures optimum image quality 24 hours a day, detecting the smallest of details, even in low light, from wide-area scenes.

Optimised image quality 24 hours a day
The new wide-dynamic, day/night ca mera model, provides exceptional performance, ensuring no under or over-exposed areas, even in extremely low light. The infrared cut filter ensures crisp colour images in day mode and infrared sensitive monochrome images in night mode. The integrated 36x zoom allows monitoring of wide area scenes as well as the detection of the smallest detail.
Easy installation and simple programming
The Solaris range has been designed with ease of installation in mind. A unique split construction of the factorysealed camera head unit (HU) and the external termination unit (XTU) means that all external connections can be made at ground level. Once installed, all pro gram ming is conducted directly from the weatherproof and tamperproof XTU at a distance of up to 30 metres to the HU (e.g. from a control room).
Privacy zone masking24 privacy zones are programmable, up to 8 of which can be displayed on screen simultaneously for applications where operator viewing is not required.
Pattern recording Solaris also offers enhanced pattern recording with up to four programmable patterns supported. Each pattern tracks and records the camera’s manual movement, including zoom and focus,
for a period of time determined by the operator. This can then be replayed either continuously or through manual recall. Ease of identification of the camera or zone being displayed is possible through a zone naming function.
Direct link to alarm and increased viewing field
The dome’s XTU is provided with seven general-purpose alarm inputs and anti-tamper contact. When directly linked to an alarm input, the domes can be programmed to move automatically and instantly (up to 360° per second) to immediately view the area in alarm.
As the dome cameras offer a greater field of vision than fixed cameras, the number of cameras required to cover a given area can be reduced.
Heritage housing An optional add-on cover is available for all four models. The housing is suitable for areas of historic or modern architec-tural importance.
Mounting options All four models are supported by an extensive range of accessories providing the capability to meet most mounting requirements.
Ultimate weather and vandal protection
All high speed dome models have an IP67 protection rating and are fully tested against dust and water ingress.

Easy installation and remote control possibilities
Easy installationThe split construction of the camera head unit (HU) and the external termination unit (XTU) ensures that installation and maintenance of the Solaris dome range is simplicity itself. The dome is factory sealed and never has to be opened. The power supply and all terminals for video, telemetry data, alarm and supply cables for the dome camera are reliably protected in the weatherproof and tamperproof housing of the XTU. An external RJ45 connection with a pre-fitted 15 metre CAT5 cable included simply links the dome head unit with the XTU – a single cable for power, video and telemetry. Once the dome has been installed, all programming is conducted directly at the XTU, which can be installed up to 30 metres from the dome head unit, for example at the base of a
pole or in a control room. This eliminates the need for ladders, expensive and time consuming scaffolding or platforms for setup and programming. Installing the XTUs in a control room also saves time while configuring or performing routine servicing, removing the need to visit each camera separately.
User-friendly configuration via LCD display on the XTU
Menu-guided addressing, protocol se-lec tion and settings for inspection and testing are performed via an LCD display on the XTU. Also, setting of presets or diagnostics and even checking of the video image and signal quality can all be performed via this LCD, meaning a portable monitor is not required.
Backup/Restore functionalityShould the need arise to replace the camera head due to deliberate or acciden tal damage, this can be done easily. Configuration settings from the head can be backed-up and stored within the XTU, thereby removing any need to manually reprogramme the settings. This reduces down-time on site if a camera head is damaged.
Remote termination unit (RTU) Using the optional remote termination unit (RTU), the distance for programming can be extended to up to 300 m. By positioning the XTU in a control room, all set up procedures and XTU operational activities can be carried out from a centralised, single location.
External termination unit (XTU) Large variety of accessories for flexible installation – corner, wall, pendant, swan neck or flush mounting to fit every environment.

Remote control via keyboard The Solaris speed domes can be easily controlled via Siemens ergonomic controllers. With options including a tri-axis variable speed joystick, or fixed speed control, controllers are available to match any requirement.
Remote control of the cameras is possible via the CKA4820 or Visilynx VK-3 keyboards. The keyboards provide the operator with the ability to select cameras and camera preset positions by meaningful names rather than meaningless numbers.
Remote control possibilities with SISTORE interface
Solaris can be controlled via the on-screen interface provided by SISTORE digital recorders from Siemens. The recorders can remotely setup the Solaris domes, including displaying the dome menus for ease of programming. Preset positions can be set and recalled simply, together with the capacity to set patrols where the camera automatically moves from one preset position to another to “patrol“ the facility. Distant objects can be easily tracked through proportional control of pan, tilt and zoom when the zoom function is used.
